pulsation damper mod
Hey all.. My PD screw is out.. I can't seem to find an 89-91 fuel rail.. How does this sound?
I've chopped the end off of the PD using a dremel cutting tool. Real easy to chop. The rubber diafragm was intact (for now)...but that's beside the point. What if I now tap and plug / braze / weld the end of it shut? I know, I know, hydraulic pulses and whatnot.. But, as a temp solution, at least. I imagine some braze or weld would plug it rather nicely... -Tesla |
If I recall correctly, you can just replace it with an M12 x 1.25 Banjo bolt. This would seem to be the safer alternative to hacking something out of the original part. Do this, or anything, at your own risk; I take no responsibility. :)
For what it's worth, I did an animation comparring the operation of the 84-88 and 89+ pulsation dampers. Check it out: Pulsation Damper Animation -- Blake Qualley Rotary Engine Illustrated |
Tesla,
You should be able to find another PD at Mazmart in Georgia or that salvage yard outfit in Rancho Cordova, CA. If all else fails, I've got a spare I was planning on holding onto, but I'll get it to you in lieu of you blowing yourself up with some of these homebrewed measures! Blake! Great animation. Now I know what the do and what they look like inside! Ralf |
