Pulsation dampener #2
Ok i knew there was gas coming from the pd i took it off and discovered the little screw on the end inside the little plastic cover was unscrewed and just rattling around inside the cover do u think I would be ok to just screw it back in, and how much do i screw it in or just screw it all the way in because there was gas coming out of the little hole where the screw goes.
Thanx Justin |
NO,NO, NO, NO, NO...that screw is set in there at the factory to a certain spec...Unless u can set it the same, then just fork out the money and get a new one!!!END OF DISCUSSION!!!

How come it was all the way out
|
vibrations cause it to loosen!!

Either way get a brand spanking new one... WAY too many FCs catch fire because of a leaking (or potentially leaking) PD... and becuase your screw wasn't in there your diaphragm may be torn as well. In fact just the other day an FC caught on fire not far from my house, most likely from this same exact problem. Get the new PD.. it should be done anyway with the car being this old, working or no.

the screw does not stop gas from comming out. a rubber seal does. the screw stops the rubber seal from moving around. if gas is comming out. the rubber seal is broken. and the screw and the PD are both now useless. you need a new one. don't drive anywhere till you change it.

you can also just dump the PD all together and run to lines from your fuel filter to the rails, someone suggested that to me. I'm personally harassing Icemark to make me a adapter kit for the GMC PD which from my understanding is almost bulletproof. If you search a little you might find instructions on bypassing the PD all together.
