Actually its coolant, water, and oil mixed. Well my coolant seals went last week so i decided that i would send it to Rotary Resurrection to get rebuild. well i knew the seal was bad but not this bad . the engine was pulled with not much trouble. and here are some of the pics i took as the day went on. just notice in most of the pics you will see choclate milkshake liquid on just about everything .. thats what i drained out of my engine, turbo, intake, and exhaust. lets say the liquid was places it shouldnt be!!!!

was it sitting for a long period of time?

alwayssideways 11-13-04 08:01 PM

nah
just about like 7-9 days

razorback 11-13-04 08:03 PM

wow. that is pretty bad. guess thats a good reason to change the coolant yearly.

have you changed the coolant at all?

alwayssideways 11-13-04 08:03 PM

yes about 2 weeks ago ., i mean i knew they were on their way out(the coolant seals) but i think the last dyno i did pushed it over the edge. that was about 3-4 days before it started really burning coolant. and that was last week and after only driving it once since the dyno which was like last weekend or the weekend before that , the coolant condition in the pics is what i got. i had fresh green coolant put in about 3 weeks ago after i took the turbo out . so it must be pretty bad. i guess ill have to ask kevin when he starts my engine on just how bad it really was

razorback 11-13-04 08:05 PM

looks like someone vomited in your radiator.

alwayssideways 11-13-04 08:08 PM

hahah yeah . whats funny is when i tried to drain the catch all bucket into the waste coolant tank. it wouldnt drain very well out of the spout. so i had to pour it out of the top. the stuff was that thick.

I bought a s4 na that looked like that. The top hose exploded spewing that shit everywhere. I think what happens is the freeze plugs under the front cover go bad. Then when you pour the water in it goes out of the freeze plugs and into the oil pan. Thats my theory anyway

alwayssideways 11-13-04 08:37 PM

the guy who i bought the car from had a problem with the freeze plugs. so you might be right .. he had them like one or 2 of them replaced the day before i picked the car up

Boy, I dread seeing that one come in the door ;)

Be sure the damn thing is clean and drained, I don't want that shit all over the back of my truck when I haul it back from the shipper...

man that is sad ive rebuilt quite a few motors myself and never seen that. my worst ive ever done was the inner water seal walls of the cast iron's i blew out all 4 sides of the 3 irons at 31 LBs of boost hehe *no wastegate* i know what an idiot but it was fun while it lasted ;) but im attaching a couple of pics of 2 of the sides i thought i just blew out my apex seals but nooooooo when i went to rebuild and port it boy was i shocked the rotor housings and rotors were fine but had no TII cast irons :( lol o well hope u get the beast on the road again soon i know what its like to not have it running.

SmogSUX 11-14-04 01:49 AM

That poor poor car...you better fix her up 100% -that looks nasty.

BlaCkPlaGUE 11-14-04 03:11 AM

Im curious as to how the mud shit got into the turbo?

It doesnt make sense. Through the pcv? hell i dunno..

alwayssideways 11-14-04 11:12 AM

kevin no worries. it will be clean by the time it hits your door. im gonna start stripping it soon. and cleaned to the best of my ability with out opening the block.

the car ran great till the last dyno run . so i think i know what i did. so i wont make that mistake in the future. but yeah i was shocked when i pulled the plug and this came out

Kingofl337 11-14-04 11:24 AM

Maybe you should dump some oil in the ports. Make sure it doesn't rust up inside.

rotorsport 11-14-04 03:12 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I laughed, i cryed, well I passed through an entire line of emotions, man your pictures are awesome!!

The second car I ever owned was a 57 chevy. Bought it from a friend of mine in high school. He had just rebuilt the engine in shop class.

I didn't even make it home with the car. The block had 2 cracks, front to back under the intake manifold. Drained 10 qts. of oil out of a 5 qt. sump that looked just like yours.

I second the front freeze plug failure, engine may still be good otherwise.

alwayssideways 11-14-04 04:03 PM

yeah im pretty sure the engine is still good,, just the coolant seals and feeze plug. i mean 2 weekends ago before it got real bad i dynoed it and i pulled a nice 240 hp and it was runnning pretty smooth . i mean no real indication on major failure of the apex seals and what not
