Proper place for lifting up with hydraulic-lift
 

Hello,

I need to know where are the correct places a shop with hydraulic lift should use to
lift up my 86 GXL NA (stock suspension). As I have no lift at my garage I have no experience with those.

Reason I am asking:
My beloved 7 is getting new tires in a few days and I want to be sure that the folks at
the tireshop use the right spot to lift it up.
As stupid as they are they once lifted my dads Maxima up with the hydraulic lift on the small side folds, and bent them.
On my 7 the folds are already severly bent by the PO. (Frame rails too)
I have best to place a small spot of yellow paint at the right points so I can show
him the place where he has to put on the damn lift.
If I dont force them to use the right spot they will simply put it on the fold.

I did a search on this topic but could only find the locations (even in the FSM) to jack up with stands.
But thats not what I m looking for, I need the 4 proper places for lifting up simultanously, you sure know what I mean, even if my english is not the best.
If you can show me a pic or something of said place that would be nice.

the sad is that this is actually a good idea. last time i took my car to Les Scwabs they placed one of the corners under the sideskirt and bent the hell out of it.

Tomorrow its going to the shop.

I attached what I found at the FSM, first pic shows
those 4 places where I am guessing that they are for lifting up.
If you look under the car there are at the exact same place 4 reinforces round places,
just beneath the frame rails which are going from side to side.
My guess is that they are meant to use for lifting but I am not sure, FSM says nothing about them.

Second pic shows the jackstand positions, same guess here too, they could be the spots
mentioned before but also not clear, I have no Idea where to put the lift.
Especially the second pic is so bad, all I can tell is that there are 2 Jackstands in front and rear,
but where thats the question. The one who drawed this should be kicked in the a**.

I think that it should be clearly indicated somewhere where to put the lift on to lift up a 1,2 t car and not
letting the owner do a "best guess".


Any help will be appreciated.

I put the front arms of the lift on the front most part of the frame rails. The back I put on the rear sub-frame there is a flat round spot. My frame rails and pinch weld are horribly bent from the previous owners but the front part seems to hold up just fine.

Got everything done, lifted it up on the rear subframe points (there were round things with a nut in the middle)
and on the front frame rails. Seemed solid and nothing was bent.

Guy was thinking he had a Renault Alpine on front of him ... :nod:
The rest of the staff who were around wondered what was up there on the lift.
Guy with the Renault Alpine BS was peeking under it and asked me few mins later if I would sell it ... :icon_tdow

As if I am going to sell my car to someone who doesnt know what stands in front of him.
Guessing he was impressed of the nice stock suspension and brake system after doing other peoples neglected DDs.

these are the best locations to lift an FC from.

although, on lowered cars i sometimes have to use the pinch rails, if people want their cars too low to get a low profile jack under their cars the eff em, honestly, since that is just too low...

you can also use the front tow hooks to lift the front of the vehicle from, they are plenty sturdy and won't buckle but use this advice at your own risk, some tow hooks have been bent on some vehicles and may not be solid for lifting on anymore.

Ive worked at a lot of different shops, very few actually care what they are doing to the bottom of your car when it gets lifted. Rotary places and speed shops usually care, but your average place could give a rip.

I use rear subframe mounts and in the front its the back of the frame rails or back a arm mount. Now if your going to pull the rear subframe you hafta get a little sneaky.

I do the same.
I put it on the frame rails in the front, and on the subframe front mounts.

When the car is too low for the lift, I normally just get a jack if feasible, get the jack on the front tow hook and jack it up so I can swing the lifts arm under it.
