propane??? in an rx????
 

has anyone heard or done any test with venting propane into a rotary??? seen it done on gas piston motors but, how well do you think it would work on a rotary??? leave some pont of veiws so i can see it from other perspectives.

do you intend to run it soley on propane or as a supplement?? what would be the pros if it were possible?

Cheaper and higher octane.

I've looked into this.. its not much cheaper.

But yes.. the carbeurated rotary can run propane with only a few modifications. Not really cost effective though.

it will smell like crap.

No worse than a 7 with no cats. :) I had a big truck that ran on propane, it was pretty cool.

propane and diesel make me nausious. Catless gasoline smells better in my opinion, but they all stink realistically.

i have a 21/2 inchdownpipe back exhaust i made for my car no cats at all or mufflers my nieghbors love me at 5 in the morning

Propane can be used to run increased boost. The GN guys were just getting into it the last time I was over there. Diesel guys LOVE it.

Have you searched for "propane"? This has been covered several times.

In the most recent thread, I post about a setup that I've seen at the track.

I also think there's a large thread in the 1st gen forum.

as an aux injection it can be useful, though my reasearch i wouldnt go that route (and yes ther was a time i though propane was the shit)

as for a soul fuel source, you will make less power overall due to it burning cooler than a conventional gasoline

dont you make about the same power, because it atomizes more efficiently? thats what i have read. sounds kinda pointless as a supplement, but kinda cool as a main source of fuel, i think to really utilize it you would need to crank up the boost, or build a higher compression(piston?) engine.

A lot of diesel's use it to run high boost.

For gas, I wouldn't run it. Water injection is probably the only supplement I would run on a gas motor, which works pretty well - drastically lowers intake temps and clean your motor at the same time. Best of all, it's water so it's cheap. Most setups are set to spray off a TPS or RPM, so it works when you want it there. Very cool stuff.

Yeah, thats definitely not the case. I wish it were though. My Ford F100 Ranger (460) didn't have nearly the get up and go it had when it was on gas... but, I converted it to propane because I rarely used the truck.. propane never really goes bad.. so, it was great as a parked-backup-car.

Propane also doesn't leave carbon buildup like gasoline... so you can run 10k miles on your engine, change the oil and have it look like the day you put it in (or atleast close to it)
