project car

I have just purchased a 1986 GXL. My plan for the car is to get 300Hp out of a NA 13B rotary. So what I need from you is some ideas to make that much horsepower without a turbo, blower, or nos. any Ideas?
:dragster:

...cant be done man. sorry. look up the n/a rotary thread in the 2nd gen archives and read for yourself

good luck. you can start by rebuilding it with a p-port/ full bridge port and s5 hi comp rotors, a light weight fly and a stand alone, good luck with your new project!

might as well start saving up for a Turbo

fc_noob 08-28-06 11:15 PM

Yeah, GOOD LUCK. I said I wanted to run low 13's and see HP in the upper 200 range out of a s5 n/a...now everyone thinks im a retard!

weeeeeeellll.....

You're going to need some mad porting. More than likely a Peripheral port for those numbers....so don't plan on driving it on the street.

A p-port will probably run upwards of $4000 by the time you factor in the little items involved in getting it running along with manifolds/TB, EMS, tuning....or *cough*carb*cough*

Got bank?

Actually I'd say you're a retard for not thinking you can extract over 200whp from a ported 13B, as for the time slip...you could perhaps get that with a that kind of horsepower, but the car would have to be non-street-legally-stripped and have a bad ass driver with sticky tires.

There are guys up here running 230whp out of a full bridged S5 n/a with a f***ing CARB!!...no EFI....

Port it.

Yet another extremly informative post.........:uh:

Get a third rotor.

Seriously though, it has been suggested that a 200 hp N/A would have very little reliability and be very difficult to achieve. This would imply that a 300 hp N/A would be near impossible. Suggestions to solve this problem would include, as stated, Peripheral Porting and a lot of custom intake and exhaust work, as well as requiring a stand-alone and good tuning.

Then again, the RENESIS is stated to make up to 250 hp, so it could be possible with a 13B.

But, this begs the question: Why no forced induction and why so much horsepower?

Icemark 08-29-06 11:13 AM

well I think we can close this thread.

It is not realistic to get 300 HP from a streetable non turbo engine without the use of add-ons such as Turbo, Nitrous or a blower.

Perhaps with radical porting and custom intakes such as in a periphial port engine it might be possible, but again not really streetable.

In essencse the thread originator is asking to double the power of a stock motor with only porting. Not gonna happen.

thread closed. If the originator of the thread would like this thread re-open'd he or she can PM any 2nd gen technical section moderator and provide a valid reason that the thread should be re-opened.
