ok im new to this site and to the rx-7 world. im only 17 and have been looking at multiple cars and finally found one that i could afford and also fix up with my grandfather. it is a 1986 rx-7 with the 2+2 seating, something im not very fond of, and an engine that doesnt run right. the owner says that sometimes it starts but when it does it has no power, so he thinks the rotors are loosing compression. is this an easy fix? could there be anything else wrong with it? anyway the rest of the car is supposedly in good shape, the trans shifts right, clean cloth, straight body, etc. the best part about the car is that its only $300. also there is an 87 that "runs great" at a dealership and they want $895 for it. ive heard the 87 is a better car and i was wondering if i should bug my parents or work harder to get the extra money for the 87. all opinions on this matter are appreciated since i really dont know anything.

well, the only way to fix compression is rebuild it. or try the atf trick.

but if it were me i would go with the one at the dealership. just tell your parents it will cost a hell of alot of money to rebuild the engine about $1500+ hehe (really).

unless your good with rotaries i would think the extra money is worth it. when rx7's dont run right you will go insane trying to figure out whats wrong.

id go with the 7 at the dealership because like rx7 gt said it will cost a lot more to fix the other car
