the project 89 tII has a mind of its on!!!

Ok guys this project has been ongoing for over a year now.Put a jspec motor in it with a u.s harness and ecu.Everything wired up and ready to go except for the fuel.We tried to turn it over to get compression numbers and nothing no power to the starter and the fuel pump was not coming on.Check the power going to the fuel pump and it was good.We took the fuel pump out and all I can say is this car had to have been setting for at least 5 years the gas was like motor oil.The fuel pump was wasted covered in crap.So now I know I need a fuel pump and gas tank. But this is what was crazy. We figured something might be up with the theft system causing problems.I had a new battery setting in it for a good 5 hours and then all of a sudden the lights pop up start blinking and the horn is going nuts.
Unplug the battery and it stops.Plug the battery back up put the key in and now the motor turns over.wtf why would it take so long for it to recognize the juice and I guess reset the system. This has been driving me crazy for a couple of weeks. We just happen to leave it connected for so long today while working on it.

I used my engine from my convertible to transplant into another one that needed a engine, that car had been sitting like 3 years, all kinds of crazy shit happened to it when it first starting going through the paces, then it all seemed to work itself out?

It also had a old aftermarket alarm system, I removed it and remember having to connect 2 of the wires together that must have been the ignition kill

the factory alarm works off a fairly inexpensive board that mazdatrix and your local dealer sells if that alarm continues to bust your chops

Thats a feature of the factory alarm, you need to disarm it by turning the key to unlock in your drivers door lock cylinder. It has a built in starter kill and the lights and horn will go off if not turned off.. I know because my car seems to arm after about 30sec. without locking the doors, bit of a PITA but i'm used to it.
