problems installing apexi DP

Ok so my Apexi DP came in today. I have already had my car preped to where all i have to do in put it on. When i went to install it it was too long. Probably about 2 inches. Is there any tricks to instralling it? I losened the cat and no luck, I removed the cat and tried to bolt it to the DP first. still no luck. Any ideas? I really dont want to remove the cat and have a 2 foot pipe built. Id like to keep the cat on it at all possible. thanks

the downpipe length is different between usdm and jdm, the jdm stock downpipe is longer than the usdm downpipe/midpipe combo.

it could be that the apexi is designed to work with the jspec main cat, and not the aspec one.

did you have a stock exhaust prior because i know certain companies such as racing beat are different lengths and only work with the rest of there designed system

ya it was 100% stock. I think like someone said earlier that the jdm madzdas have longer DP. just sucks cause now i gota put the oem DP back on and drive to the muffler shop and have them fab a pipe in place of the cat
