Problems with difference in years ?
I'm going to swap a 87 motor into my 88. Should i take any parts off the 88 and put on the 87 ? Is everything the same ? Fuel Injectors ?
depends on the production date of the 87... they could be identical
the ecu plugs are differnt
I'm not changing ECU's just motors.
the ecu plugs are differnt So long as you pull both engines as a whole with the wiringharness etc. intact, you can plug the other one right in with no mofidication, even though they are slightly different between 87 and 88. It is when you take injectors and wiring off one engine and try to put it on another that you may run into problems. |
I'm going to use the engine wireharness from the 88 and put it on the 87 since i didn't get one with the 87. What else should i change over.
Would i be better off to unplug the harness from the ecu than pull the motor with it attached or just pull it off the motor and put the new motor in and put it on than ? Also anyone know if i will have any problems using the 88 engine harness on a 87 ? I read somewhere the the impendence is difference on 87 fuel injectors than it is on 88 ? Should i use the 88 injectors ?
Yeah, the 87 injectors are low impedence while the 88 and later models have high impedence.
I think the wiring harness and injectors need to be from the same year for the S4's. |
So what should i do ? Will the car run with the 87 injectors ? Do i need to get a 87 wire harness ??
