Probably normal but I just wanted to check??

Well guys, I finally got my car running. She started right up after I changed out the ecu. crank crank crank...vroooommm...na na na na. Sounded just like that. But havoc struck when I took her for the first drive. Funny though. So I'm driving up the straight away from my apartment....It's about 9:30 pm and the ssautochrome exhaust I have wants me arrested but I'm just driving along real nice and easy till I get about 10 miles under her belt. Keep in mind this is a jspec ..not a rebuild. She's nice and warm now and begging to take a beating. I was somewhat nice. Took it up to about 4 grand and and felt the turbo start to kick in. Don't know what kind of boost yet but I would guess according to my butt dyno that it was around 6-8 psi. Modest...but fun. My first turbo car. But when I put it nicely into second gear and stepped on the gas again i blew the intercooler piping off. haha. Naughty me. But my real question right now is if its normal for a jspec to smoke like crazy for 20 plus minutes. Rent a cop was driving up so I shut it off and went inside. But could someone please let me know if that is normal or not.

2nd question. The tube going to the device on the uim and then a tube going to another piece of the uim or tb...well is that needed or can i cap both of them off??? I could take pictures if my crappy descriptions arent good enough. Thanks everybody. Happy Holidays.

Smoking at startup is normal, especially if the engine was tossed or turned during shipment and oil got places it shouldn't have... if it keeps smoking like that everytime you run it.. may have some problems...

I think you are talking about the tube going from the back of the water pump housing to the BAC and then over to the throttlebody???? You can remove it, but there is a return line for that system on the rear iron housing that attaches to the bottom of the UIM and its a real bitch to get to.. i'd leave it alone!!!!

Super pumped that you finally got it going. Get some pictures up asap, i want to see this gem. Too bad that its going to be slower than mine when you get it back to iowa :)

Yes....yours will be faster...so lets wager on something else...how many turbos we go through. You are already ahead of me on that number by a few. HAHA. But maybe there is a chance that mine will be faster. Hopefull...but thanks for the support. Later Chief.

Fixed it..

Sorry guys...hit the wrong button but while im here I figured I'd tell ya that the smoking problem is fixed. The motor was unable to get rid of the crankcase pressure due to me blocking both tubes off. Stupid me. Thanks
