Price on body work

I just got a quote at a very good body shop in Lou, KY and he gave me a quote of $2930 to make the car look as if it had just came off the showroom floor. It also included painting my rub strips body color and removing all rust , dings, dents, etc. It will be repainted in the factory Sunrise red.

Does that sound like a lot of money considering how much work is involved?

That sounds about right. Remember you get what you pay for

All rust? how do they do that...

Suggestion for future use:

1.Take a SHARPIE marker and circle & number all the dings you want the body shop to repair.

2.Take a digital pic of each panel, showing the circled & numbered dings

3. Print out these pics and provide a COPY of them to the body shop when you write the estimate and when you drop of the car.

4. When you pic up the car, come back with your copy and verify all work has been performed as described in the Written estimate.

Make sure you get a copy of the estimate and you have a firm delivery date with a "performance clause" written in.

i want to repaint my car 88TII, which right now is red....
the paint isnt horrible right now, i just dont like red a whole lot....
since the door jams and engine bay are red as well, how much am i looking at to get the car repainted blue or black....
remember this will need to include the entire body, becuase i dont want red door jams with a blue exterior...
any estimates from you paint guys out there??

You need to find a shop that specializws in Street rods or hot rods, most pproduction shops do not want to tie up a bay that long for a color change. Are you pulling the engine and all the accessories out of the bay? Interior? How bad is the condition of the paint? Is it the OEM paint or has it been repainted?

Fitness Stain 01-30-03 10:44 AM

im pretty sure its the OEM paint.....
im sure ill just end up repainting it red cause i dont want to take out the engine and all that crap....
BUT if it blows (the Engine), then i will for sure get the car painted the color that i wanted, but i dont think it would be worth it to take out the engine to get it painted.....if i did i would end up spending much money on the paint for sure, and then since the engine was out i would end up buying all this other stuff like a new engine harness and stuff....

i guess ill just stick with red....which sucks but o welll.....
atleast i still own a rex

the interior for the most part is real clean considering the amount of miles it has on it.....no rips or anything, i might get it re-upholstered just due to some of the dirt stains, that might not come out with a simple wash
