when from a stop and i press in the clutch quick, i hear thump, very faint very light, not very noticable, but it's there, i don't have a stereo so i hear alot of stuff around my car, what can that be? its coming from the back as far i can tell.

its the tranny mount... i think...i have the same problem

Can you feel it in the pedal? There is a little rubber grommet thing that is on the clutch pedal, it's for a little actuator for the cruise control. Check to see if the grommet is there, if not the little nub for the actuator can sometimes 'pop' into the hole where the grommet goes.

Slide in under the steering wheel/dash with a flash light and take a look at how the adjustable part going from your pedal is set going through the firewall to the clutch cylinder. See if their is a lot of play, or if you cen get the clutch cylinder to make a pop noise when you push the clutch in and are under there with the car off.

i can't feel it through the pedal, everything with the clutch is fine, just when i depress it quickly i hear a low sounding thump in the rear(as far i can tell). also when starting the car i has to depress the pedal really hard to be able to start the car.

To keep from having to press hard to start the car adjust the starter lock out switch at the clutch pedal.

Might not be the same issue but this same thing happens to me on first gear when I am accelarating but have not released the cluch completely but then I have to push the clutch back in. It is usualy accompanied by a spike in RPMs.

This only really happens when I am driving slow in a parking lot or am in stop and go traffic.

I think it's just becuase I push the clutch in before I release the gas. It's a bad habbit..

FYI this same thing happens on my Toyota truck and my girl friends 280z.

spike of rpm is normal, depends though, when u press the clutch the rpm raise, i think because the BAC, but when u apply clutch you slow down the engine load, while the computer needs to stay at constant 700-800 idle so it raises.
