Presilencer or straight pipe?

Okay, since I live in Florida, we don't have emissions...at all. So I want to take out my cats and replace them with something straight through to get ALOT more power. Now are their any problems with just going to an exhaust shop and getting a pipe fabbed up from the header to the y-pipe? Or would I be better off to just get the downpipe/pre silencer from RB? I know not having the presilencer will be loud, but is their that much of a difference? and what kind of power differences are their between the presilencer and just a straight pipe? Thanks for any responses.

P.S.- I have a 91 N/A

get a presilencer or a resonator of some sort. It'll make the car sound a hell of a lot better, without hurting performance.

Racing Beat downpipe/ presilencer and if you're feelin really froggy the catback.. you will not be dissapointed.

Nice browl at idle... gets pretty loud around 4K when your are on it, but it won't cause an Anuerism like N1's.

I had the full system on my 89 N/A and it was da BOMB!!

Now then... an 89 i bought to fix and sell... that thing had a straight pipe with a single big assed muffler and it was so redardedly loud you couldn't see straight while driving it...

I'd say straight pipe, I was running RB header to test pipe to dual BOMZ mufflers all with 2.5" piping for a long time. Eventually, however, my neighbors complained to my parents a bunch, so they asked me to quiet it down. I am now running a 4" round magnaflow straight through muffler instead of the test pipe, but if I had it my way it'd still be with the test pipe :D

my friend has a striaght pipe from an exhaust shop to a single exhaust...compared to my rb headers/presilencer and dual n1s, mines sound better w/a good tone but his is loud yet still beautiful, but LOUDER

If you're on a budget, by NA had a muffler shop custom system that started with the Mazdatrix header kit.
With a header, straight pipes to the mufflers become way too loud.
The pre-silencers (resonators) did the trick.
The whole system came to $300.
