Preserving a MINT Turbo II
 

Hello All,

If you just bought a MINT condition, bone stock, 89 Turbo II, with 49k original miles what would you do?

I find myself in this difficult position... :D

I just upgraded from an 88 GXL to a sweet 89 Turbo II I'd like to keep the car in top mechanical and cosmetic condition. The previous owner just put on new tires, new brakes, replaced the antenna motor, changed fluids, etc. - so most of the standard maintenance has been completed.

So, if this was your car, what would you do?

Id like to think of my car as pretty mint... at least its nice.. and I am anal about it... As far as keeping it that way.. I park in the very corner of every parking lot (as close to a curb as possibel, so there is no possible wya to get a door job) Always make sure wax is on the car... dont do anything stupid in the car... like throwing eggs, smashing stuff (immature teenage stuff, that could cuase damage... and I keep it in the garage... other than than.. pretty much the less you drive it the better...... gooluck

i just bought my t2 its a white 89 ... 35k miles on it ..... bone stock when i got it... the exhaust had leaks in it from sitting so i went with 3" from the down pipe back and put a hks fcd on it. for a while i was thinking to keep it stock but you can never keep it stock that s just how it goes... the body is super clean other then some paint is flaking off but not to bad...... i plan on geting a 3" down pipe and a fuel pump... yeah but as far as how i drive it i look at it as a car with low miles.... and if i keep it stock and drive it only on perfect days is when its going to get rearended and ruined for ever... another key point is say in ten years you put on 100k miles it would be a 24 year old car with under 150k miles .. so it still would be super low.... i just could not see myself not driving something that was so well built and designed to be driven.

I hear ya... I'd like to keep any mods to the car limited to reliability mods or modest performance upgrades.

It'd be a sin to take such a clean TII and slap a huge spoiler on the back, get dual 4.5 inch super loud exhausts, put a big racing strip down the middle, install a 500 shot of NOS, and pepper the car with stickers.

If you mod that car, don't do anything permanent and keep the stock parts. I'd also suggest buying a daily-driver in order to keep pointless miles off of it.

cars are made for driving. Real drivers drive cars. I have awhite turbII. I plan on keeping it. Whats the point in having some garage queen? Unless its to make money. And u just want to sell a mint rx7. I guess i just dont understand the collectors aspect. Drivings much more fun then collecting.

I think that sounds like a damn fine idea, I can be just as happy looking at my turbo 2 as driving it, so thats why I think im going to have twins....one to race with, one to garage and keep outta harms way....they are just 2 damn cool

if you love the car that much than the mileage is not important because your never going to sell it. drive the shit out of it and when something breaks buy a new one. you should have fun with the car, someone else already spent their time preserving it.

I agree. Get out there and drive it! Its no point keeping them garage queens, its not like TII's are highly regarded as future collector's cars. Just my opinion though.

I consider the TII i bought last year to be in mint condition for the most part, and it has been upgraded for performance. There are just too many things to do with these cars to keep them stock. I mean yeah dont be a ricer and put gay wings and stickers and crap on, mod it for either performance or handeling. If you mod right youll never have problems and if you mod the right things, the right way then modding a TII can only benefit you. Believe me you just bought your car so right now you might think you want to keep it stock but once you get used to it youll want to start going faster. Dont be afraid to mod your car, if its done right youll have the best outcome.

wax, car soap, leather cleaner... everything...

that stuff is truely the best. Well there are better but i don't want to go out of my way to pick it up
