Which Premix

What kind of two cycle oil do you guys use that run premix???

Any kind work out better for you?
Smoke a lot??
Stuff like that.

1987RX7guy 08-06-03 09:22 AM

As long as you make sur eit is TCW-3 it shouldn't matter at all. I haven't seen my car smoke since I flooded it a month ago. ;)

banzaitoyota 08-06-03 10:08 AM

I run AMSOIL 2000 or ROTAX BOMBADIER SYNTHETIC

jsotelo 08-06-03 01:00 PM

1987RX7guy is right.. make sure it's TCW-3 and that's about it.. I think the biggest factor to decide what kind I buy is where I am at the time..

I have not noticed any smoking differences between brands.

I guess the "best" would be some synthetic grade stuff you can get.. it's really expensive thou.

With no cats and premix my car smells pretty bad.

Zach McAfee 08-06-03 01:06 PM

What's TCW-3?

Castrol for me

jimmyv13 08-06-03 01:46 PM

I use either Amsoil or Castrol

kleach18 08-06-03 03:39 PM

Ok, I usally use penzoil which has tcw3 on it, I was told not to run sythetic 2 cycle in it b/c it leaves behind ash.

Valvoline Multi Purpose 2 stroke oil.
A couple years back, the bottle stated "For Rotary Engines". The new bottle does not state that now but it is still TCW3 certified. Upon engine tear down, internals were almost spotless. I'm keeping the Valvoline .

banzaitoyota 08-06-03 09:11 PM

I also orfered some Synergyn 2 Stroke today

n4ji 08-06-03 10:31 PM

Seriously... Marvel Magic Mystery Oil (friend runs it in his FD and kicks ass, runs it in his lawnmower too!)

stevensimon 08-06-03 10:57 PM

what is a premix? whats it used for?

n4ji 08-06-03 11:12 PM

Putting in a little oil when you fill up your gas tank. Basically just helps out the engine compenants.

The oil injectors can get clogged if you neglect oil changes. The hole on the oil injectors are very small if you ever get a chance to pull them out or get a chance to see the rotor housing where the oil injects. Well, not inject but trickle is more like it.
That is why oil changes are so important. You don't want crud clogging the injectors.
If you want to keep the injectors, you could pull out the 4 hose and injectors and clean them out with carb cleaner.

Marvel Magic Mystery Oil, where do you get this? I'm picking up a 91 GXL converted to Turbo next week and I want to take good care of this engine.. I hear lots of good stuff about this.. and no one can really explain why it's so good.. it just is!.
Is it safe to run directly in the engine and mix with gas?

Do not use Marvel Mystery oil as a replacement for premix. If you believe in little black books, add all you want. However, it is not intended to be used as a premix and it is too thin.

I use Amsoil pre-mix 100 to 1 as recommended by my cars tuners and many times national champions--Rotary Performance in Garland, TX. It is what they use in their cars.
