Power window switch question

My problem is with the driver side controlling the passenger side. The window will go down but, not upwards. (The passenger side switch works fine.) I've taken apart the switch, sanded & cleaned the contacts and then reinstalled and have the same problem. I manually tested the wires and they all seem good. I have retaken apart the switch and I see nothing wrong. I was informed that in this case it could be the pivot point in which I'd have to replace the switch. By pivot point I assume they meant the plastic switch itself. Could bending the metal strips into sharper angle help? As in over the years the shape might have flattened out, thus reducing contact?

Sorry for the newb one.

TIA.

Check everwhere on the "passenger" switch for cracks in the plastic. What happens is the plastic caseing around the sprung plunger is giving way so the pluger point simply isn't moving the rocker arm of the switch.

Very common, and that would account for it working one way and not the other when you know for sure the contacts are clean. And all you can do is replace it. I've tried every kind of glue, but it's too great a stress point. This issue is way more common in S5 switch's than S4 as the casing plastic caseing around the pluger is much thinner. Thus why S4 switch's have a reputation for being more durable.
