power window problem on 90 vert. help!

hi, I bought this 90 vert recently, haven't register it yet, cuz some problems need to be fixed first.
for one is the driveside window won't go either up or down all the way. it just stop at the middle. it can go all up to 80%, and down about 50%. and that is all.

so, I would assume that the window motor is working?
what about the cable? and regulator? switch should be working fine too. which part would go wrong?

also, would a window regulator and motor from a couple fix into a vert? one of my friend has a parts car. the worse case that I can get some part from his.

thanks

Coupe window parts are not interchangeable except the motor and switchs.

If it moves half way, or most of the way, there are two things I would look at first:

#1 the window tracks themselves. They maybe gummed up, corroded, or damaged in some way

#2 the switch contacts. They probably are dirty, gummed up or corroded.

if its neither of those things, you will need to pop the inner door panel off and take a look to see where and on what it is binding.

Start by pulling the door panel. Then pull the motor & regulator assembly. Clean, lube & bench check it.

This is my 1st attempt at attaching FSM info.

I had trouble with my driver side window on my vert that turned out to be nothing more than a loose wire that was catching on the actuating arm and stopping the window. Does your motor continue to "try" to push the widow up or down? Does it sometimes make it all the way? I would guess that if you can move the window up or down even an inch that the motor and switch are both working properaly; and you most likely have a misaligned track or arm, or the hanging wire like I had. Remove the door panel and take a look. But be VERY careful when pulling off the panel so you do not damage anything. These cars don't like to have things yanked on very much and they will repay you with a nice crack or tear. I recommend removing that little triangle shaped thing on the inside of the mirror before accessing the door panel. It was the first thing I broke on my car; pulling of the door panel (or putting it on, I can't remember). And the plastic door handle on the inside is very brittle and prone to cracking.

89 vert

The motors are not interchangeable between the coupe and the vert.

This is the vert, sorry it is raining out there.

The housing, burshes and springs are not interchangeable.

Until now, the problem was the switch. You can carefully take apart the switch and clean the contacts. Mine was intermitent. I finally replaced the driver side switch from local junk yard $25.

I now have a defective passengers motor, I thought I could swop the parts from a coupe and the vert. No go the regulator housing where the motor attaches is not compatable.

Good luck.

If you find a vert regulator for right side, let me know!

Motors

Here is the vert motor on the left, coupe on right.

White bracket holds the motor in the coupe door panel.

The vert motor housing will not fit into the bracket.

The armature is located differently relative to the housing.

UGHhhh! Be careful, I just lost a spring from the brushes...now where is that magnet?

This is what the lower end of your glass track may look like...give them a treatment.

Power cord to window motor and black bottom of motor.

Looking forward inside passenger door panel.
