Power steering fluid/reservoir

I family visited for a week so I rented a van and my carbsat at work for the week. Keep in mind this van was brand new and the steering was super super light, so I may just have gotten used to that. After I got my car back, the steering seems harder than I remember. It's not crazy hard, just feels slightly harder. The haynes manual says the location but the illustration is very basic.

Is the reservoir dipstick for power steering directly in front of, and a bit higher up than the oil dipstick, to the right of the oil filler?

If so, then the power steering is very low.

Any recommendations of what type I should use?

My RX is a 1990 RHD savanna, FC type. I can provide a photo of what I'm talking about if needed, but can't at the moment due to work.

Thank you

Dexron/Mercon transmission fluid.

I have Type F in mine right now ( drinking, not paying attention to what I was doing) and it doesn't seem to be hurting anything.

Edit: to answer your other question, the resevoir should be attached directly to the pump. The dipstick for it pokes out of the top, hard to miss.

The manual doesn't really have a good photo of the pump either. I'll take a photo of what I think it is. I'm pretty sure it is, it's the only other dipstick I can find. The dipstick in question is locked in and can be unlocked by a quick quarter turn, when I pull it out is very short. Maybe 2 inches long.

By your description, that's the right one.

It's black on mine, but that just might be because it's Japanese or the previous owner put a new one in.

Thanks

In gonna link a picture in about an hour, just to be sure.
