Power of porting
 

I only drive my RX-7 (an 89 GTUs) on the weekends and during summer when I don't have school, so how would a bridge port work? Can I pass emissions without some crazy cat combo? Is there any way to make it idle a little milder? I could learn to love the idle, but smoother would always be cool.
Finally, how much hp could I get out of it?
BTW I already have headers, no cats, and a cone filter.
One more thing: what kind of quarter times can I run shifting at 8500?

well, a BP is basically going to require you to rebuild your engine every 5-10K miles. Emissions with stock cats will basically be impossible, so some underhanded/crafty tricks would have to be implemented. The idle is going to have to be at ~1500-2000 RPM, and there is no way to get around that.

I do not think this is something that you want to consider. If you really want to port, go with a large streetport. No more.

A bridgeport is a 1500 idle nothing more nothing less. You can get it to pass emissions just fine. 220 rwhp would be the goal of a bridgeport. As for the qt mile its still a no answer because shifting is only a part of the problem to get a lower time. The biggest part in running a low et in the qt is the 60footer a 2.0 or less is the goal and shifting as high as you can is usually what to do especially in a GTUs -Gabe

I know that, at least in Washington, you cant even get an emission check if your idle isn't under 1100 rmps (I believe that is the number). That is why it woulden't be able to pass.
