Power Mirror Wiring Question

Hey all,

I picked up some S5 Aero mirrors off a guy a while ago and finally decided to get them repainted and installed this weekend. I had my door open previously saw the wiring harness with empty plugs, and the center arm rest has wiring underneath, so I figured all of the wiring would be there. Well today I installed the mirrors and realized the wiring is about 6" too short. It has to reach from the base of the mirror to a plug that's snapped into the door frame.

It looks like there should be an extension cord to go between the door harness and the mirror, can anyone confirm this? (WTB =)

Also are there any other wires I should know about for this project? (I could use a switch too... I suppose.)

See pics.

Thanks!

what i did when i put my s4/s5 mirrors i unclipped the mirror harness from the door, cut off a lil bit of the tape and stretched it up just like you drew in your picture. also if you look in the mirror there's a little plastic piece that screwed in and holds the wiring in place. unscrew it and pull out the harness. connect it and voila!!

oh...btw..dont worry about the dorr harness plug. it's this one you connect it to...

That makes sense, thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure it is the one that I highlighted, I tried hooking them up and it was a good fit. (But I'll give it another check to make sure.)

if u actually need to wire them pm and i can tell you wire to wire for the mirrios i just did that

Ya there is a short harness that you need to connect from the mirros to the plug that is highlighted in green. I Install power mirrors in my S4 SE about a month ago. Easiest thing ever.

After a trip to the junkyard, it's as I thought. There's another piece of wire. It's worth noting that it's easier to unhook the wire from the door harness, then remove the mirror and take the wire up with it. (As always, installation is reverse of removal.)

I know nobody cares, but figured I'd just finish the story. :D

is it possible to put power mirrors on an n/a that originally came with manual mirrors?

yeah . the plug should be there but you would also need the power mirrors switch that goes on the center arm rest console. the wire for that is there too.

Did you check the Power Window fuse?

phil226 11-22-13 09:47 PM

the windows work. it's just the mirrors. that dont.

satch 11-22-13 11:13 PM

I meant to say Cigar fuse! (yes, this fuse powers the mirrors).
