Whats up guys :) After selling my last FC about a year ago, I then purchased my dream car, my '94 FD. Ive done a few bolt on upgrades, and have a nice solid 12 second FD, that is in immaculate condition. Everything's great right? Well, I actually miss my FC. Not sure why, theres just something about the FC that makes me want to come back. I think Im going to put my FD up for sale in the spring, and buy another FC. This one will be a widebody LS1 ( No flaming please..Ill have another rotary car to go along with it). Just wanted to say hi to everyone again, and to look out for a new monster FC shortly ;)

Do you have any insights or interesting comparisons between the FC & FD?

um....welcome back but why, there must be some kinda reason to come back to the FC world after being in the FD world. Why dont you keep the FD and buy a FC too. I was thinking of getting a FD also sometime but keeping my FC.

Honestly, I dont like driving my FD because..well its too nice. The FD is a work of art IMO, I can just sit in my garage and stare at it all day, but when I drive it, it gets dirty, I might get a rock chip, etc. Im just too paranoid about it. Hell Im scared to move in the seats for fear of messing up the fabric. Plus I want a little more power, but I feel like Id be molesting it with extreme upgrades. Not that I didnt baby and take care of my FCs, but its far less worrying. I know if I break something on my FC, I can find another one in no time, and it most likey will be cheap. Alot of parts for the FD are hard to find, and rediculously expensive. I want something I can tear apart and rebuild from the ground up, and I dont want to do that to my FD.

As far as insights, the FD is just a completely different class of car. There are beautiful FCs and FBs, but the FD seems more exotic. You feel like you are driving a ferrari, everyone stares, you get tons of questions and compliments everyday.

For actual driving differences, the FD is far more stable, and also quicker with minor bolt-ons that a turbo FC. I ran a 13.5~105mph my 1st time at the track, on stock 10lbs boost, with nothing but an intake and exhaust, and 1/2 bald shitty kumho 712s. Now with just a few more upgrades and 14psi, its capable of low 12s. You sit lower, steering is more precise, and handling is amazing. Its like an FC on steroids.

I was lookin at getting another FC. Cant afford an FD at the current moment. If i could, i would have an FD in a Heartbeat!

Dont get me wrong, I love my FD to death.. but I just dont want to hack it up doing major modifications that I want to do. The FD is an amazing car, no doubt.

I feel the exact same way about FDs...

I feel that they're too fucking pretty and should be left driven stock....unless you have $$ flying out of your ass!

I'm going for another TII....Once both my TIIs are done, then I'll buy an FD...as a pretty driver....

You got to know, the cars were built to be used, why get all paranoid about it. Live your life with your FD, i know if i ever get one im going to drive the hell out of the thing.

Wouldnt you want your FD to have fun too? Think of its feelings too :p

i think probably the best part of the FC is that you can acctualy drive it w/o worrying too much. I tear into my 86 GXL on a regular basis. The FD would appreciate the fun aswell. keep it around.

I plan on getting an FD eventually, but it will prob be at least 5 years, maybe more. Before I do that, I still have to build my 13B-RE powered FC with at least 450 to the wheels.
As for the FD, I don't think I would feel too paranoid in it. Sure, it looks like an exotic, but nothing pisses me off more than people with exotics that never drive them. My uncle has 2 Ferraris and he drives them to work sometimes and takes them out to the track. He knows you don't get that kind of machinery and let it sit. Sure, an FD may be an amazing exotic looking car, but it's still worth less than my family car ('03 Mazda 6)

Thanks Tony! Its going to be really hard to let the FD go, in no ways am I saying I dont love it.. I just think I would be better suited to a car that I built. I like playing with these things more than I really like driving them :p: Plus the LS1 monster I could build with the cash I sell my FD for will be mind-boggling! Im really looking to build the ultimate FC, no expense will be spared on anything. Here are a few pics of my baby:

I have a beat up 91 FC NA automatic coupe and a near mint 1994 FD manual transmission as well.

As far as a a daily driver, the FC is the better car. I'll say the same about long distance driving as well. It's just a little more comfortable. I've never had the FD in the snow but with snow tires, the FC is as good as an SUV (deep snow or ice).

The N/A is trouble free. It doesn't get crazy on freeway ramps because I just don't flog it as much as the FD. I couldn't imagine selling the FD, though. You'd have to take up aerobatics in a Pitts S2 to beat the thrill you get with that twin turbo spinning to redline in third gear.

Heh.. yea I couldnt imagine daily driving the FD. Not so much for comfort reasons, but it would just get beat up. I dont think Ive even put 1000 miles on my FD since Ive owned it. I drove my FCs on the snow no problems, youre right about the snow tires, never gave me an issue.

Anyway, since Ive posted this I think I am going to keep the FD. After all, it is my dream car and Ive worked so hard to get her.. I may just need to take up a 2nd job for the FC project :p:
