Possible Pulleys to REMOVE?

I've got an '86 BASE, and am just wondering what pulleys and pumps, etc. that I can remove to get engine-bay room?

I know you can't remove the alternator pulley from the main crankshaft... but out of the other three... what can be removed?!

Thanks!

Air pump if you don't care about emissions, and the A/C compressor if you don't want that either. The altenator is the only thing you really need (unless you have power steering). Just be careful having only one belt running on the waterpump with the stock fan. Mine was slipping bad and not turning the water pump at high rpm's when I removed the other belts. Switched to an electric fan and added back one belt and that fixed the problem.

bump- so you can run without the airpump with a cat?

if you have a cat you will need the air pump unless you want to burn out your cat.

You wan to remove pullies to make room? Really need that extra 1.5 inches between the eccentric and the fan?

Well, actually... the real situation is:

I got a 1986 Base... and I think there's some stuff missing from the engine bay. I'm wondering what I don't need. But I do need emissions stuff.

and unless you wire open your aux. ports you are going to want to keep the air pump. you can ditch the power steering and a/c if you can live without...i would just take the p/s belt off and drive for a few days w/out it to see if it is really worth it.

Thanks for all your help! I guess the waterpump is run both by the alternator pulley and air pump pulley. So I'll just keep those two pulleys on.

I don't have A/C and the P/S is no biggie!

FWIW I have only two of the original four pulleys on my engine, those which drive the alternator and water pump. I removed my AC and the car never had power steering, so the front two pullies were not being used, so I didn't reinstall them when I put the engine back in the car the last time.

It's kind of hard to see in the pic, but there are only two pulleys on the main output shaft.

1fastt2 only has 1 pulley.

nice... thanks for the pic! Do '86 Base NOT have p/steering?

I'm not sure what the status of power steering being on base model FCs was (Icemark probably knows). If it has a bracket on the spark plug side of the engine with a belt going to another device, which will look like the a little like the airpump, that would be power steering or AC. The two accessories shown in my pic are the alternator and air pump. The power steering compressor would be below the alternator and to the right of the front pullies.
