porting bits

i have just got my intake manifold off and was wondering if ther was a long, flexable bit that i could get that would smothen out the inside (hard to reach) of the intake manifold. also, there used to be photos of porting the intake manifolds on one of these threads, but they arent there anymore... anyone have any pics?

Why not just get the flexible shaft attachment for the rotary tool?

because you will not be able to "reach" as far.

ok so lets say i have the flexable rotary attachment, what type of bits are best for this job? and how big can you port the manifold. i have a friend that just traced the gaskets for a template to use to port his IM.

I am not sure what you mean by reaching as far. The attachment is 36" long and the last at least 5" of that is stiff so you can accurately guide the bit when carving, boring, et cetera. I have used this attachment for a while with various projects and not only does it offer a lot more control than just a bare bit, but it extends the life of the tool.

If you want to sit at the bench for hours with a dremel, go ahead. I use 1/4" shank burr-bits for the rough removal and then a high speed pneumatic mini-die grinder for final details.
