We just got home from Wal-mart and the window would not go up. Well this being Florida and all we could have a rain storm right now..............or ................now ...not good. It;s been messing up and Mazda trixs wants $130 for a new one.

I thought about doing that too, but after talking to an electrical engineer friend of mine he explained that it wouldn't be a good idea to put a solder bead on the contacts... Solder has a pretty low melting temperature compared to copper, which is why you're able to melt it with a soldering iron. Whenever you operate the switch, you will get a small arc; if it's enough to damage the points over time, than it will melt the solder bead and the contacts with stick together, with power constantly applied to the window motor... not nice.

Yeah, new window switches aren't cheap from Mazda and are of no better quality either... I ended up making my own window switches using some carbon fibre plates, some rocker window switches from radio shack and a couple of 30A relays.

Sorry can't help much more.

Cheers,

I just went to pick and pull and got some points off a mazda 626. I had to do some triming on them.

They work great...

my pass side one pulled apart when i removed the door panel. i looked at the wiring diag in the fsm, and as i am not versed in reading wiring schematics i couldnt figure it out, so as a temp solution i ran a wire to the batt to close it. I am curious as well, so i could at least open and close it with the drivers side switch, but without the pass side switch in place it doesnt close the circuit. just curious on how this works as it may help me as well (knowing the wiring for the drivers side switches).
