Plug and Play Electric Radiator Fan?
 

So I bought a electric radiator fan w/ shroud on ebay for 30 bucks. And has the connector in the picture. It plugs in to an empty plug by the passenger strut towed. Like right underneath the filter box. I checked for voltage on the plug and I got nothing. I was wondering if I can make this plug work?

Assuming this is the electric assist fan, which only came on certain models, you also need the relay which connects at the nose of the car, as well as the thermoswitch which mounts in the filler neck and triggers the fan. I'm assuming you're missing one or both of those things since your car wasn't originally equipped with this fan.

Why even bother with this little assist fan?

im looking to get rid of the load of the fan and also the air pump. Im dead sure i dont have any of those so i might just wire it to a switch and bring it to the dash.

No, I thought you were referring to the OEM electric fan, in addition to, no in replacement of, the clutch fan. You've just bought a 3rd party cheap e-fan.

I will be the first, and not the last to say, this is a mistake and will likely end with an overheated motor. The stock clutch fan is fine, and not costing you much in parasitic loss. Even quality, beefy e-fans can struggle without the proper shrouding, this eBay special doesn't stand a chance....

Have you done any research and seen any of the extensive tests and experiences that have been documented on e-fan options over the year? Mighty Lincoln MKVII, Mercury Villager, Taurus are all your big e-fan players, and as well as some other OEM solutions. Almost no one runs a cheap 3rd party fan, for good reason.

No, no, and no. As posted before, thats not an efan replacement for the mechanical one. Whatever you decide to do, if you are replacing the mechanical one with an electric one, you will have to figure out how to turn it on/off. I used the black flex a lite black magic fan (not the newer extreme version, the one with 2800cfm) for years, with its own thermoswitch:

I would go that route. I will have a set of 86-88 radiator rails with custom made (welded) tabs, that would make this fan literally a drop in, just wire it in.

i haven't tried it yet, but the 2001 mustang uses the same size radiator core as the Rx7, the fan bolts to the side, like the Rx7 and its inexpensive

i cant see it being any good for $28
