Plink is Driving me crazy

Okay I have owned my FC for over a month. It runs strong is tuned well, minus it being rich. In the month I have owned my car it has made a random "Plink" noise twice. This happens rather randomly, The timing is in tune, the AFR are high 10's. It does not sound like or feel like detenation as it drives through it as if nothing happened. with just a puff of Fuel smoke.

It seems to be a random misfire, does this sound right?

I really want to eliminate this problem before it eliminates my engine.

More info required...

Does it happen under load or under cruise? At idle?

How is it "tuned"? What ECU?

Its on Haltech E6x, It is of course under heavly load when it happens. About 14 pounds 5k rpms or so

It's detonation. Check your map and make sure there is not one cell with a very short pulsewidth.

Can you post your map?

might get more help in the haltech section also. but 10 is REALLY rich. even for boost.

That may be, but what if one rotor is running really rich and the other lean? I would think that could cause a rich reading, but ping one rotor sometimes. I heard about some people placing an EGT probe in each rotor's exhaust so they could pinpoint such issues quickly.

Yes all fingers point to detonation, but the sound is different its just not very describable. It seems to be more of a random ignition failure. It does not sound like detonation. I was just hoping someone had encountered a similar problem.

I can try and post of my tune tomorrow when I get a chance.

Oh and the running 10's is temporary, I had it running 11.5's afr at 10 pounds but raised the boost and do not have 14 pounds tuned yet.

If there is only one lean cell in the map, then the sound can seem random.
