Please T2 Swap Reliability???????????

Hey guys I read another thread someone had posted, and now I am kinda scared. I just wanted to run my buildup past you guys and just from what I named does it sound like I have a good safe setup for the power I am making right now. I have 37,000 mile Jspec S5 T2 Engine. The engine has 37,000 true original miles (removed from front clip) and it was COMPRESSION TESTED AND LEAK TESTED. The mods I have are

Jspec S5 T2 Engine (using Idemitsu racing oil)
Manual Boost Controller (10-12psi)
Fully Ported Wastegate
550cc Injectors Tuned well w/ S-AFC
Full Turbo Back Corksport 3 1/8in Exhaust
K&N Intake
All emissions removed and blocked off
OMP removed and running Idemistu Premix

This is my setup along with a complete T2 Drivetrain and I just wanted to know from what I have is this a good reliable setup....I mean I know that cirumstances vary but is this a good reliable setup....I spent $3000 in this total swap and I have no Daily driver car yet.....so little problems dont bother me but I dont want to be getting a rebuild any time soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help...or any tips someone could give me would reall help.

#1 what was the KM on the motor??

#2 Jspecs are traditionally a very hit or miss on reliability. Lets face it.. a rotary engine sitting for the last 15 years in some japanese junk yard is going to be less than reliable.

The mods you are planning or have listed pump up the power considerably. Remember every HP over stock, pretty much lowers the reliability on a percentage basis... for example and extra 50 HP would pretty much lower the long term durability of the engine by at least 25%. This means that a motor that would normally go 150K miles, would probably only go 112k miles. And add in anything improperly tuned, and it could radically jump to much fewer miles.

I wouldn't run 12lbs on dirty JSPEC injectors but thats just me.

don't be afraid of rebuilds. They give you a chance to port and upgrade the internals while the motor is appart. Also it let you know the exact condition of what you are putting in your car.

The engine did not even sit for two weeks....the guy I got it from receives front clips from running cars. The front clip was removed from a running car and the engine compression tested...and immediately put on the back of the truck and sent to him. One he got it he removed it from the front clip a and compression checked again. And the people doing the swap have taken all this into account and the engine will be properly tuned as well. But yeah I know for a fact that this engine I go was removed from a running car and sent here. They are not allowed to leave the engines out for more than a week so that the chemicals wont run into the ground. But my fuel system has been upgraded and I will have good tuning. I have a Cosmo 20B Fuel Pump.

doesnt sound bad, it sounds like its just minor upgrades. its not like your boosted insane amounts. Of course the reliability does go down but that sounds safe to me

Rotary engines = who the hells knows !!!!!!! gook luck :moon:

If you're using a stock ECU, you'll need an FCD.
An upgrade fuel pump is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Ah a 89-91 S5 motor... with only 37K miles (funny that it is in miles, as all the odometers in Japan are in KM not miles...) anyway so given the benefit of the doubt that it is a 91 motor (last year of the 13BT, before the RX-7 switched to the 13BREW) with really 37K miles on it and that the car was just wrecked in the last month, well, that means the owner only drove the car 2850 or so miles per year... And then rear end wrecked it.

So somebody is major yanking you, or has some really good crack.

and even if the Japanese owner really was only driving 237 miles a month then the car and engine was sitting around for a bunch of its time.

Also forgot to mention that I have a Knights Sports FCD. Yeah and we did the conversions and its like 40,000 actual miles on the engine. Yeah it has sat some time but I know the guy really well so if I have any problems with the engine he will get me another one or send me my money back 100%. Although I would much rather have no problems with the engine. I hope everything goes alright....I have an upgraded fuel pump and S-AFC so fuel delivery wont be a problem. I have talked to alot of people who have had Jspec engines and some say the engines were really fast and good shape and some get them and they run like crap or dont even run....so I guess its kind of a gamble huh? Well at least I know what I'm gettin....jus kinda nervous I guess.
