please help RPM switch not working
 

Hey as of right now I'm working on getting the VDI chamber to be RPM activated. I hooked it up and the green light which tells me that a certain RPM has been reached is not lighting up (I got the red one on) So according to the instructions with the summit switch, I assume that I'm not getting a correct tach reading. I connected the wire to a bullet style connector and put it to the female (yellow with blue stripe) TRAILING coil, and set the switch to 2400 like on the carl davis page. Is this the correct place to attach the connector or is it the LEADING coil that I use. I almost have this down just getting the rpm's to recognize. Also I've read some contrasting things on wheter the trailing and leading coils should be like a v8 or 4cly. maybe then my readings are wrong.

Tailing coil tach is what you want to use, and the signal is usually set as a 6 cyl for most aftermarket remote start RPM monitering.

hmmm okay if I stick with the trailing coil like I did the, then even if I set the switch to 2400 (supposed to be around 5000 for us) rpms the little green LED still didn't go off after 6000 rpms. I also monitored the air pressure going to the solenoid with a boost gauge and when it was hooked up, it still didn't open up. Perhaps is it a bad connection? I used those tube style wire connetors maybe thats the problem? either way I'm getting power and I am grounded properly so its my tach output wire thats messed up. also the bullet is a little tight and maybe its not going all the way in the female connector could that be causing a no connection?
