please help, NA turbo swap almost complete
 
Im near completion of my na s4turbo swap. But before i turn the key i wanted to verify last couple things im not too clear about.

1. Fuel pump resistor pack : present on s4 turbo and most s5 cars but not on na s4. What i would like to know is its function and is it necessary on my 86 S4TII ? The n333 ecu im using has a wire for it but na EM harness uses it for inhibitor switch on automatics.

2. Radiator: are NA and turbo the same?

3. P/S wire: my 86 has power steering but the wire goes to knock box on TII so i've cut it. Will it affect the function of my p/s?

4. Last and dumbest question: i dont know what has been done to the car b4 i bought it. My concern is making sure it still has injector resistance pack plugged in, so can anyone point me in the right direction as to its location. Dont want to fry my rtek 1.7.

Please help me figure those last few things out. Once successful ill put together a more comprehensive write up for others.

1. fuel pump resistor and relay, very simple the ECU turn the resistor on at low speed/loads to drop fuel pump voltage to 9v instead of 12v. you can skip it, or better rewire the fuel pumps power and ground.

2. yes.

3. no. PS computer is separate. edit, actually someone should look at the FSM www.foxed.ca the wire to the ecu should be for turning the air supply valve on, so if the engine is idling and you turn the wheel, it bumps the idle speed, but someone should double check that.

4. the injector resistor pack is bolted to the inner fender under the airbox. you're looking for a 6" long box with a giant round plug. you can either run the low impedance injectors with the resistor, or high impedance injectors without the resistors. the important part is that the resistance the ecu sees is around 12-20ohms.

So in regard to #3 will my ecu still compensate for the extra load when i turn my wheels at idle since it wont get that signal anymore? Also isnt air supply valve basically the same thing as BAC?

if that's what the PS wire is for, then if its not hooked up the ECU won't know when you turn the wheels.

the turbos have the AWS, which is for the 3000rpm start up. the BAC which controls the idle, and the air supply valve which bumps up the idle when you turn the wheel, or when the AC compressor is on.

the wire gets cut so the engine doesn't see the PS.
otherwise it would react every turn of the wheel.
BUT this is on a N/A wiring to a TII engine/ECU.

I only asume thats what the p/s wire going to the TII ecu is for. I guess NA uses some other way to control air supply valve cause there no p/s wire at all going to NA ecu.

The NA does not have an Air Supply valve. Pin 1R at the NA ECU is for power steering.
