piolet bearing help????
if the piolet bearing is bad, could it cause the clutch area ,and trans to vibrate and chatter. i put in a new clutch a trans wit low miles ,and a drive shaft . and its still vibrateing while trying to reach higher rpms , the timing still needs to be done also its good right now but breaks up a bit up high, and low still but is driveable. any help is most thankfull.

get the timing done first of all, bad timing can cause wierd vibrations.
|
Does it vibrate while revving in Neutral?
|
it does a little. it was doing this wit the old motor i had in the car before the motor blew , and that motor was fine as far as the timing was concerned , with the old motor i changed the throw out bearing but it still made the vibration up high everynow and then , so im guessing it is the piolet bearing

If you changed engines, then you changed pilot bearings as well since the pilot lives in the end of the eccentric.
|
no we never changed piolet bearings the piolet bearing in the motor is from the car we took it out of ,so thats why it is most likely the culprit.
|
so, you swapped pilot bearings? From the bad motor to the new one?
I would be more apt to blame bad mounts (engine, tranny, etc) then a pilot bearing. But swapping pilot bearings isnt what I consider to be the smartest idea. chances are, its damaged, just from the swap. Jarrett |
we never swaped piolt bearings , we just ripped the engine out put it my car and put on new clutch etc . we left the pilot bearing the way it was from the motor we pulled so we dont know if it was bad to begin wit
