pinapple sleaves for 5th and 6 ports
Anyone use these and how did they work for you?
I've heard nothing but good things, just don't send the motor to him.
Ive been using them for a long time, seem to work great. Ive heard nothing but good things about Pineapple and their products and services. There was an issue someone had where the inserts of the sleeves became detached, and pretty much destroyed the entire engine. But as long as your either buy the sleeves from Pineapple with the inserts already installed, or make sure you use some type of adhesive (loc-tite).
Did you install yours or send them your engine?
I can't see why anyone would send their engine to get them installed... all you have to do is take off the lower intake manifold... me thinks he was kidding :)
Nope i wasn't. I've seen some people do that.
He's not on my good list right now, as Rob is avoiding my friends e-mails and calls. We ordered a rebuild with 3mm seals (cryo treated) and when the engine blew, we found out it had stock mazda seals. Honest mistake, but the fact that he's not responding and what appears to be avoiding us, makes him seem shady. This was covered in the 3 rd gen section. |
except for the one engine rebuilder guy who has had the pineapple sleeves fall into his engine and break his apex seals, they seem to work great! search for his thread, he has some wonderful pictures. they determined that you have to use some kind of locker to hold them in like a version of locktite for bearings.
Yea, I was thinking about getting the sleeves but that thread about them falling into the engine kinda discouraged me....
That's because Kevin didn't epoxy them in..
Anyone know exactly what to use to hold them in place so I can go find it?
Everyone says the work great... but what are they supposed to do? Are you seeing increased HP/TQ or just smoother reving?
