Pics of stock front bumpers w/ FMIC
Just wanted to see some pics of your S5 FC front ends with an FMIC installed. I've heard that you have to cut the bumper in order to make some cores fit and I was just wondering what the general end result looks like.
Thanks. |
You do have to cut the bumper for some of the bigger cores.
I use the new style greddy core, and its huge ... I did take quite a bit off the inside of the bumper, but you dont notice it by looking at it unless you get up super close. My car isnt in any shows, so I dont mind too much. If someone wants to get on their hands and knees and look back under to see my not so perfect grind I made here and there, so be it. lol |
woops... that last post was me.

I have a s4 frontend cutout for the IC does that count?
|
what ever you got is fine

Iinsatlled a hKS core in my FC and i did not cut out anything i had to move my horn and othe rwiring gizmos over and i welded a bracket just below my hood latch but i ddi not cut out any bumper support

Here is my friend Ian's. Greddy V-SPL, stock S4 bumper. It's really jammed in there:
http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/member...hp?img_id=4483 My setup is different. Spearco core. You can't even see the FMIC, and I get to keep my bumper support and my brake ducts... http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/member...hp?img_id=2659 |
Do you still get sufficient air flow for the FMIC with the bumper like that? I'm trying for 400-450 RWHP and I don't want to leave anything to chance cooling wise.
Also, the whole reason that this started was because I don't want to wait until I install my FMIC before I put the car into the body shop. At the same time, I don't want to pay to paint the bumper and then have the shop cut it to bits when they install my V-SPL. Hope you guys can follow that, I'm not even sure that I understand it myself. |
Yeah for sure. I think I might actually get more airflow than Ian, since 3/4 of his core is up in the bumper and gets no air...

Hey Jacobcarmill, is that a Greddy V-SPL? or some other make. Looks like a clean install. I think I prefer it with the grill cut out.
|
this is mine before piping and it now has a lip so its not cut at the bottom anymore
