Pics of my ported/coated irons and coated ext w/g'ed s4 turbo manifold

tial 38mm wastegate on stock s4 turbo manifold routed to 3" RB SS Downpipe
twin scroll removed
downpipe and turbo manifold are both ceramic coated, downpipe is being re-coated in black.....lol d'oh!

irons are streetported w/ no increased overlap to pass emissions
ports are teflon coated, plates have a oil-retention (i think) coating

All coatings and turbo work done by elliot white from www.turblown.net

Engine was ported and will be built by glen weaver from www.azrotaryrockets.com

Both are personal friends of mine from arizona and I'm lucky to have such good friends that can do such awesome work on my car. Can't wait to get my car together and running. Engine should be together very early january i think.
Rotors are currently being clearanced. Need to have the rotating assembly balanced after that.

my motor is a high compression 13BT. it uses the 9.4:1 s4 n/a rotors

The turbo is going to be a BNR stage 2

I will spool the living bajesus out of this turbo. Twin scroll is only a flow restriction for me.

nice!

but to be honest, after my dyno session... **** Hybrids/stock turbos or any of their variants- waste of time and money.

well. you were pushing what, 18psi man? Honestly I think something was up w/ your setup or just w/ the dyno.
You also mentioned that you didn't know the exact specs of your turbo.

I know seth (cymfc3s) threw down some pretty impressive numbers at really low boost on his black t2 w/ a h3 trim hybrid.

Anyways, I'm not after a lot of hp. I'm more after a well rounded powerband and some badass lowend.

My inspiration was FD w/ sequentials and bunch of bolt ons After driving a few of my friends FDs on sequentials I knew I wanted something like that.

I totally agree with you though. A full framed turbo is better in every way. But considering I'm a ***** and afraid of the cali cops, I just made something thatll look really stock. I like to call it super stock
If I was after power I wouldn't play around w/ a stock mount ic, hybrid and a cat. Or 3" exhaust for that matter

SmogSUX: I'm another ben, not another zach! lol

the hybrid ran out of breath alot sooner than i thought it would, it made about the same numbers on 10 PSI as it did on 18.

Yeah, I'm only planning to run about 8.5psi (tials wg spring) to about 12psi.

Want to keep the motor happy. It'll be plenty fast for me.

I am assuming that S4 Manifold is custom made by yourself or did you have a shop perform that for you? I would be interested in a simular modification for my S5 manifold and BNR Hybrid Turbo with use of Cork Sport Downpipe. Please let me know.

the S5 manifold is really too short to do anything like this on, you would either have to run it into the snail or just live with the original wastegate.

With the Higer compression rotors, you don't have to run as much boost and should see more low end TQ. Not to mention it'll start easier on really hot cali days.

Node: when the hell did you move out of PA? I thought that's where you used to live. Are you in college now?

so what is the use of teflon coating a port? Also what coating is that on the side housings? I thought really the only coating that was good for the side housings was a nitride coating?

the coating on the housings looks like its gonna cause alot of friction with the rotor spinning up against it. but maybe im dumb and dont know any better. lol

lapped housings have that texture, takes several thousand miles to get the mirror like finish you see on used engines unless it is cermet.

hmm i would have figured that having the textured like surface would cause heat issues because of the added friction. so these will get a mirror like finish after a few thousand miles?

the wear surface looks a little different in color than the irons themselves so i'm not sure if they re plated it with anything.

5-12% increase in CFM, I didn't flow bench those ports, but thats what you can see on intake manifolds etc.

Those sideplates are coated with an oil attraction/retention coating that is blended to be used in conjunction with the seals on the side of the rotor.

We made those modifications to his manifold. However as Karack pointed out its going to be pretty hard to do on an s5 manifold. I'm not saying I won't give it a shot, but expect to pay a pretty penny if it takes a lot of work.

Honestly if you're not in Ben's position, I wouldn't bother with hybrids at all.
