BLING! looks very good my friend. good work.
Now the upper, middle and lower manifolds.... and dont forget the front cover and Altenator housing while your at it! -Markus Reschny |
Now that you mention it they do look a bit dull next to that IC, and I do have some time before my new radiator gets here....hmmmm methinks some 500f paint would even do a decent job =D

what kind of "rubbing compound" did you use???
looks awesome! I'm all for some engine detailing come spring |
i'm bout to do it since my motor is in storage for at least 3 months.
|
please do tell us the process you used.. just scotch brite pads? those green scrubbies? inquireing minds wants to know.. and whats compounds?
|
looks good , dude polishing really sucks i hate the way that crap tastes. I started my manifolds and wow looks awesome but a lot of work ,I respect those that do it after putting in 10 hours on mine. Keep up the good work.

Heres the exact proces I used, I went to autozone to pick up my new speedo cable and I picked upa small container of mothers aluminum polish and a big ass plastic container of turtle wax rubbing compound. I used the rubbing compound on cheese cloth and tery cloth but after that turned out to be impossibly hard I went in the kitchen and grabbed two or three of those little green scotch brite bads. I put a crap load of rubbing compound on the ic and rubbed like a madman for about 25 minutes, then I cleaned all of the rubbing compound off with a damp cloth and went to town with the aluminum polish to get rid of the larger "scratch" marks left by the scotch brite pad. I did that two or three times before I was satisfied with the result, my only real advice is just dont get discouraged and put on some good music =D

Wow, I"m doing that to my FMIC.
Some Bling Bling yo |
Very nice...
I've taken a 2hp buffer to my GReddy V-Spec FMIC Kit using Mother's Carnuba Wax. My results were the same as yours. :) I just have to Install It now...It's been sitting In my closest for 3 months now. Good job. |
Thanks for all the possitive comments, its nice to be back on my car again and even nicedr to be back on the forums =D

must.....try.....on.....all aluminum parts....

Check out some of the other polishing links..
the stock TMIC's will shine up nice using scotch brite and some aluminum polish cause they are made of stamped sheet aluminum which is pretty smooth to begin with. Good effort on that! HOWEVER.. if you guys try that with any cast aluminum part.. you will see why guys charge 125-150 bucks to polish a UIM!!!!!! you gots to SAND that stuff my friends!!! and you gots to sand A LOT!!!! Actually, I run a polishing business, and when i get a car in to sell.. I bead blast all the cast aluminum parts so they look like new. makes the car look like it came off the showroom floor when you open the hood!!!! All the labor to polish up the cast aluminum would SERIOUSLY cut into my fun/profit margin!!!!! PM me.. I have a write up on the methods we at TRB Aluminum Auto Parts Polishing use on various types of parts. Shane |

I'm sure the compounds aren't good for ya to be breathin either!! WEAR A MASK!!!!!! I use a Scott-o-vista full face respirator cause I wear contacts!!!! aluminum dust and polishing compound makes a nice glue when in contact with eye juice!!!! |
nice visual

When you blast a uim do you mask off the open ends? If so how cuz I actually have a friend whos dad owns a powder coating shop and they do bead and sand blasting there as well so he could probably do it for a couple bucks if I did all the prep work for him. As far as the UIM being harder I kind of figured thats why I said I thought some 500f paint would do the trick but now I think that blasting it might be a better option.
