Pics of my car on the dyno.
My numbers are in my sig. I wish the pics turned out better....perhaps I need a better camera.

enigine specs?
Curious, how many miles on the engine, and the list of mods?
Doesn't the stock spec for you engine come in at about 146hp? If so then depending on the above, it's doing pretty good. |
yea the stock is 146 at the crank and I think 115 at the wheels. So I'm DAMN happy with 135 at the wheels. With the 20%(damn that's high) driveline loss of the RX-7 it's right at 170 at the crank.
My mods are cone intake, gutted pre-cats, high-flow main cat, advanced timing, mild TB port and removed ac/ps belts. My engine has 107,000 miles on it. |
supergoat
That's cool to know, I have a '91(with 44K miles) and I'm thinking of putting on a cone filter and a complete exhaust system with headers and with no CAT at all.
If your numbers are any indication then the gains could be worthwhile! |
I don't think it's your camera...it was just kinda dark in there.
Look at those tires spinnin' like a beast!! You WISH Billy was your friend. :P |
yeah Stephen. I only hang out with you cuz Summer is so cool. :p
Anyway, I can't wait to see you two again (Summer and the RX7) :D New Years, maybe? Nice pics of the car on the rollers. Do you know if I got any video of your car on the dyno? I don't remember... |

But I could be wrong since I don't remember at all either way. ;) |
Ya well a 91 has more HP to start with than a series 4.

where did you get your dyo done at and how much did it cost??
|
LSD helps drivetrain loss??? - Just wondering.

With the 20%(damn that's high) driveline loss of the RX-7 it's right at 170 at the crank. nah man, HP loss thru the drivetrain is all a HUGE guessign game, there is no exact numbers available, there is however numbers showing the reading discrepency between a engine dyno and the various types of rolling dyno's Dyno Jet reads 15% less than flywheel - thats the most common US system Dyno Dynamics read 27% less than flywheel - thats the most common Aussie system. So you can say you are loosing 50% thru the drivetrain and no one can really argue with ya cause how much any car loses thru the drivetrain in real life (actual HP put to the tarmac) is anyones guess. However if ya lost too much % you'd boil the oil in your diff and trans....... |
Interesting. I asked on here once and everyone told me that the RX-7 had 20% loss. Oh well. :)
Also, how can the dyno measure it at 15% less than the flywheel if it measures power at the wheels? |

Originally posted by RedTT The dyno measures less cause the power has to go throught the transmission, driveshaft and wheels before it goes to the ground. Typically, you will lose 15%, some cars lose more and some less. Of course AWD cars will lose more but for some reason the audi A4 quattro losses something like 10% to the wheels. Kinda wierd |
