Look what I came across scanning the rotary rockets. It's another style OEM Areo kit.

This is SO sweet looking.

Notice the e-longated spoiler in the rear, slightly beefier ground effects, and a little lip in the nose.

It keeps the sleek OEM look and enhances the car's lines as well. This is one of the best looking ones I've seen (for those of us who like the prestine OEM look).

For the critics, imagine this kit in dark blue or red ;)

I like!!!! Looks smooth. I want the sideskirts. It looks like a kit I have seen, and it was like $300 for the whole thing. Might be different though. I will look for it.

This is the one. It's made by Kamei. Polyurethane construction.
Classic Garage

Hey, the 86 I just bought off a back lot of a Mazda Dealershiphas that louver for the hatch! Anyone want to buy it?

yea thats the classic garage kit, all the people that have seen it before say it looks too 80's, and didnt like it much, i think it looks great, and for 335$ its awesome :) not sure if thats the mazda kit that reduced drag coefficient from .31 to .29.

in the classic garage page, it says it needs modification for turbo cars. does anyone have any idea what it may be and how much of a problem this is? thanks

I'd imagine since the turbo's came with OEM Areo Package #1, you'd have to take that off and put this OEM Areo Package #2 on. Maby the bolt holes don't line up or you need to add some braces to hold the kit on.

Number one: Polyurethane bodywork... YUCK.
Number two: That window shade screen thingy for the rear hatch.... YUCK.

The kit's avaialble without the rear slotted cover. If you changed the paint and had a better pick, you'd be going - @#R$@#$ that rocks.

Poly is what the OEM nose is made from. MUCH more durable than fiberglass, semi-flexible, won't crack like cheap fiberglass kits. I don't like the hatch louvers either. I think that kit would look really good on my black 'vert- and I'm NOT a body-kit fan.

Yes, it's a little-bit 80s-ish... but my car IS an 80s car...

Yes it's strong, but fiberglass can be strong too. Trust me on this: Polyurethane is THE WORST thing to work with in terms of trying to make it fit and also trying to paint it. I cant' believe how much trouble my friend and I had trying to make the stupid kit fit on his civic. Then when the painters came back with... god knows what kind of crappy paint job. In any case, the paint can be peeled off by hand. Well, I'll take fiberglass over urethane anyday. Just my opinoin though.

Not to mention a sure sign of a paint shop that had no clue what thet were doing.

Dont take my word for it, just look at the rest of the 99.999% of cars with poly bodywork!!

they are ALL PAINTED.

Hell they even crash shopping acrts into this stuff and it comes back perfect!

It wa horrible.... When we first got the car back from the painters we were really excited because the paint was so glossy and everything, then when I started to take a closer look to inspect the job, I noticed this little bubble on the side skirts. I took my fingernail to it just a little bit and the next thing I know 2 square inches just peeled off!! OMG! I yelled and cursed a bit more at the sideskirts and we decided to take the whole body kit off. Anyways, the painter forgot to treat the urethane first which is a pain in the butt but in any case, IMO, i just prefer to work with fiberglass because you can make anything fit like a glove to anything from cars to motorcycles to lawnmowers. I'm just saying, although urethane is strong, speaking as a person that worked with both materials before, I just prefer fiberglass because of it's workability.

PS: You should've seen the shock on my friend's face when he saw the 2 inch square I peeled off by hand. ^_-

I would have gotten my money or had it repaired at another shop and then had them pay for it..

I would NEVER stand for that.


I have a few sayings and one applies here.....

"3 moves is as good as a fire..."
and
"having two paint jobs on one car is as good as a fire..."

i.e.

Just start over.

So i hope it was repaired, and i hope the original shop paid for it in time or money.

They're called louvers :-D

And yeah so 80ish, well late60-early 70 muscle cars occassionally.
