Phantom Check engine Light?
Ok my check engine light all of a sudden clicks on, not when the car is first started but when it reaches regular running temperature. Moreover, if I just touch the accelerator it will go away but will come back the moment I let completely off from it. I have an 89 GXL w/ an exaust leak somewhere along with a bit of a thumpy idle however it isn't that bad. Could the exaust leak be throwing off the 02 sensor? Ummm any help I guess would be pleasurable in this situation. Thanks guys

Ignition off. Go up and ground the initial set jumper. Turn key forward till the idiot lights come on. ECU will now blink out a code. Count the codes. Check codes v. website. I'm guessing your TPS is outa whack.
Mine did the exact same thing, when I checked the codes, I got code 12 (or 13, hmmmm, can't seem to remember...- -). I ended up replaced mine, try setting yours first via multimeter. The O2 sensor isn't used during idle if my brain serves me well, so That shouldn't be causing it. |
This is exactly what I am thinking....I was wondering if there was a good site where I might find one or should I just go and get one at napa for the like 290 dollars that they want? If anyone has one for a Series 5 N/a than I might be able to take it off your hand? Oh and you say ground? with what a wire? And with wire any kind of copper wire will do? And I know we can ground to body or negative battery terminal, does it matter?
