Pestering Oil Leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 

I just got my car back from my mechanic, he replaced all the oil lines, replace a broken motor mount, misc vac and cooling lines, fuel filter and ran techron through the fuel system, replaced a bushing on my p/s and check my timing a fixed my idle.

the prob is its still leaking oil, it not coming from the oil cooler, the only othe place I know of is the rotor housing them selfs, it leaks of teh frame support right under the engine, any suggestions?

Oil pan gasket or possibly oil lines that come out or into the turbo. Does it smoke?

Also the oil metering pump is know to be a common leak.

If you still have your air pump it is basicly below that monted to the right side of the engine. This unit has a rubber o ring between it and the engine. This likes to break down and you have a leak. Tell your mechanic to start sniffing there.

Plus it could be oil left from your old leak.

Is it drivers side or passengers side???

Driver side could be the O-rings in the fliter plate.

I'm thinking its the oil pan gasket, I saw some oil colected on the lip of the oil pan just below the omp, the mechanic had the omp off and changed teh gaskets so I don't think is that, I wanna get one of those drip oil pan gaskets that make sure the oil doesn't foam, anyone tried these?

Right this very minute my car has an oil leak that I'm in the process of fixing. My mechanic told me it was leaking, and gave me this little vial of stuff to pour in the same place where you put oil in. This vial says it has "petroleum distillates", and the stuff is supposed to glow under the right kind of (expensive) UV light (not a regular party blacklight you can buy from the store). My mechanic told me to put it in, drive the car between 30 and 100 miles, and come back to him and he'll be able to find the leak by using that UV light and seeing the exact location of leakage. The vial cost me about $8.50, and the UV inspection is a $53 service. My appt. with him is tomorrow for the UV thing, so I don't have any suggestions for just yet you beyond asking a mechanic about the UV dye. It might work?

Sounds kinda expensive comparied to a nice steam cleaning.

then you could see where the leak was coming from and your engine would get mostly clean.

Well my Mechanic and I took my car to the car wash and washed all the oil off the motor with that degreaser crap, and we brought it back to his shop and jacked it up and it wasn't leaking, so we reved it couple times to 4k-5k then 6k, and saw oil start to drip, after a while of searching we tracked the leak down to the front cover, right under the water pump..............

damn it!!!!!

just spent $641.85 for replacing the oil lines and gaskest, fuel system cleaning, motor mount, and p/s bushing replaced.

now I'm looking at around $400 to get my mechanic to fix this leak, I know my way around a shop but on a level of 1 to 10 how hard would it be to change the front cover gasket?

Dang that sux man. Sorry to hear about your problems with the car. At least your mechanic isnt poking your eyes too bad. I just got off the phone and he seems pretty reasonable. (I have seen worse prices in San Antonio). Hope you get her up and rolling correct again. I think i am going to run my car over there and have him take a look at mine.

yeah it sure does, he fixed my idle completely though, no more sputtering like you where talking about..

I had the same oil leak problem. New Front Cover gasket fixed me up. Ran me a pretty penny to get done, though.

woh your kinda late I replcaed my front cover gasket 2 weeks ago, all is well now
