Performance Chips

Im have Trouble finding a chip for my FC. i was wondering if i can even get one?

rx7b13 10-11-06 05:22 PM

you can but they only hurt the car. instead of a chip go with a piggy back fuel system like an safc or an safc2 or you can go with a full stand alone fuel system.

s4 or s5 rtek is avalible fotr S4s www.digitaltuning.com

Rotarythekiller 10-11-06 05:44 PM

how does it hurt the car? where would the best place to get a stand alone system? Im tryin to get some more power without going turbo just yet. what would be the best course of action to going about that?

rx7b13 10-11-06 05:50 PM

well the only actual chips i have ssen are on ebay and they trick the ecu and advance the timing too much and cause ping. a good standalone is either a haltech or a microtec. my buddy Dave from www.speedmachineperformance.com sells them. they are pretty expensive but they are worth the money. if you ever go with a big port job and boost and you already have the standalone then you wont have to worry about starving your engine if you have the right size injectors

FCKing1995 10-11-06 06:24 PM

i seriously hope you arent talking about rtek, and just about the other cheap ebay junkers. rtek chips DO NOT trick the ecu into anything. Rtek is would I would recommend, though I think that is all you can get anyway. Im getting a 1.7 or 1.8 Rtek chip soon myself. Check their website and all of the features

rx7b13 10-11-06 06:29 PM

no i wasnt talking about rtek. i was talking about those stupid little resistors that i keep hearing about

bacek 10-11-06 06:44 PM

rtek is pretty safe if you ask me... most dyno's ive seen have the afr's in the correct range (ie under 13)

but then again do you have a turbo?

fwiw the rtek doesnt really add power it just adds fuel and some timing above a certain psi (12 i think)

slow_2ed_gen 10-11-06 06:48 PM

corksport does a tuned ecu

you have to send your ecu away to them, but i dont really know anyone that has gotten that done

bacek 10-11-06 06:51 PM

yea there are no reviews for the corksport ecu... if you search youll just find questions about it and threads like these

rx7b13 10-11-06 06:58 PM

you have to do the same thing with JET.

hell you could go with a megasquirt. they cost the same as an safc2 but they are a full stand alone like the haltech

MS is a very good option... but if you have crazy power goals your better off with a microtech or haltech...... heck but if you really want the best get a motec

JCurry 10-11-06 07:52 PM

They dont have rtek for n/a's i dont think.

Edit: I just saw they now have it availible for the s5 n/a, wat year is your car?>

Black91n/a 10-11-06 10:09 PM

The Rtek for the S5 NA ONLY removes the OMP and the associated limp mode when it fails.

They're developping a stage 2 for the NA's though.

I'm waiting for the S4 N/A version. I hope it comes out soon.
