people who know drag racing look HERE

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2725046 I think its obvious since i'm NA that I was in the left lane #2195
This run was in my NA s4 my mods are intake and full exhuast with no cats (straigh 3 inch pipe to racing beat cat back), and I have my fifth and sixth ports hooked up to my air pump,

I launched at 6500 on bald 205's ,Higher launches yeilded lower 60 foot times 6500 is the highest i tried, I power shifted tro 2nd and took 3rd easy ( bad syncro), and suggestions on how to drop this time a bit?

sincityrx7 03-03-04 05:39 PM

better tires more practice on the tree for better reaction time fix the bad syncro in the tranny different rear end gear ratio strip the car of everthing that doesnt make it go faster and a big bottle of nitrous. ok im kidding about the nitrous :D :D

rmaier 03-03-04 05:41 PM

Better tires? They make quite a difference!

Kai 03-03-04 05:44 PM

Well, the one time I had my car at the strip so far it was stock, 16.2 sec, 2.3 60'.

I'd say that's a really good time for only an intake and exhaust.

J-Rat 03-03-04 05:45 PM

Thats actually a REALLY nice time for an N/A!

Project84 03-03-04 06:03 PM

Go when you see the last yellow. By time your car starts to move and crosses the line, the green will already be on. It comes on .4 or .5 seconds after the last yellow.

Digi7ech 03-03-04 06:33 PM

Yeah that's a good time.

My best 60ft was a 2.2 and my car ran a 17.1

1. Be careful of your differential mount. I broke mine dragging.

2. New tires make a HUGE difference.
-a side note/ A burn out isn't really necassary on a DOT tire. Avoid thw water and you will probably hook up better.

ponykiller 03-03-04 06:48 PM

Reaction time doesn't matter for 1/4 mile time. So, working on a better reaction time is not going to lower your quarter time.

Ways to improve: S-AFC, wideband tuning, tires, rebuild tranny, general upkeep (new fuel filter, clean injectors, etc.).

ditto 03-03-04 06:51 PM

i was gonna say, but it seems you did
race much faster to as fast car's as yourself, it helps so much... easy kills will kill your time.

gergrx7 03-03-04 07:03 PM

Great time. what RPM do you shift at. and how have you not broken your differential mount. after 3 lauches at 5500(droping the clutch) mine broke. When i went to the strip i only could manage a 2.3 60ft. I only ran a 16.1 Good job Great time

totallimmortal 03-04-04 09:42 AM

I shift at redline, and I never really thought about my diff. mount but odds are as I keep doing this and especialy with better tires i could break it how much is a new one and how hard are they to change?

Tofuball 03-04-04 10:18 AM

MazdaTrix sells solid diff mounts to avoid this problem and allow slightly better launches.

They also sell the vibration reducing OEM diff mounts.

rx-7s rock 03-04-04 11:44 AM

nice run. Let the breaking of things begin!

lower your rear tire pressure to about 20psi and do not burn out on any street tire...at MOST a slight chirp is all you need to get off dust/rocks.

Donn Hecht 03-04-04 02:00 PM

I say you need to get some Nitto or BFG Drag Radials.
I had a set of Nitto Drag Radials on my Turbo II, and man do those tires hook like crazy, the best part about them is they hook like a slick, but yet are civilized for daily driven street driving. At the track just let out a little bit if air like 5-7 PSI, and drive around the water box. You can do a nice hole shot to warm up the Drag Radials. A full burn out is not necessary for Drag Radials.
Also if you have enough time, try the left, or the right lane of the track, reason being is sometimes one side of the track will usually hook up better than the other side wheter it be the left or right side try both sides you got nothing to lose, and a better time slip to gain. I also agree with "Project84" leave the line on the last yellow.
I highly recommend you get a ACT High Performance Clutch to make sure your clutch is grabbing, and holding the power like it should. If all else fails have a friend of yours drive your car to see if he pulls a better time slip than you do. Driving is a talent just like anything else, some people are better pilots than others.

I did lower the tire pressure but i think burning out helped alot, my tires felt much stickier to the touch and i couldn't beat a 15.5 without burning out

nice times , but a bad r/t I know it does'nt effect your time but it is a matter of pride with me. I have over 250 passes on my n/a set up with out any problems best time was a 9.8 @74mph in the 1/8 mile with headers, intake and apexi n1 (on stock port) with a centerforce DF clutch, I run my kuhmo 712 at 25 psi and my best 60' was 2.1

cbrock 03-04-04 07:24 PM

Drop that 60 ft and you'll see your times drop..although you MPH might go down slightly. Any time you pickup off the launch is carried though and you might see a big difference at the top end.

For instance the only time I've dragged the T2 (normally drag my v8 olds :D ) I launched at 3500 bogged like an SOB (like almost stalled) which yeilded a 60ft of 2.4 sec. Top end...14.7 @99mph

Dropping 4 tenths in the 60 would have probably dropped my ET to 14 flat. As MPH would indicate about a 14 sec pass.
