Parking light failure

Hello guys! Once again, I'm having a problem with my 88... I don't know why, because I don't use them in the daytime, but last night driving home my buddy pulled behind me and flashed his lights, so i pulled over. he said i didn't have any tail lights, so i got out , and I had no lights front or rear. I have headlights, brake lights, and turn signals and thats all. The bulbs are all good, that much I have checked. I don't think its a fuse, because there isn't a fuse for them, is there? I did check the FAQ's but I thought I'd post here because I have a special case that it doesn't cover. When I shift to 5th while driving, the backup lights come on. They don't turn on, however, when the car is off and the tranny is in 5th. So what do u guys think? I haven't checked anything because It is freezing cold outside, and my dinky little tin can of a garage doesn't hold heat for shit. Switch maybe?

Your answer is found in the FAQ for FC sticky thread, found at the top of this, the 2nd gen RX-7 technical section.

Please read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting. Many of the commonly asked questions (such as the one you started this thread with) are covered there.

For example. found in the Electrical section of the FAQ for FC sticky thread:

My tail lights don't work, but my head lights do
The light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.
As far as the reverse light issue, the reverse light should only be on when the car is on/running and the tranny is in reverse. If they are coming on when the car is in 5th gear, the reverse light swith wires and 5th gear switch wires on the tranny have been mixed up. Probably by someone doing recent tranny or clutch work.
