PA,NJ,MD drifting?
 

Im getting a T2 after i return from basic or after i get back from tech school at lackland AFB in texas. I was wondering if anyone around these areas does any serious drifting and would be able to teach. I try to do some in a V6 camero. But thats also a camero.lol And id really like to learn the sport instead of saying i know how. So if anyone has any info that would be great

ahhh.. once again we encourage dangerous driving on streets.

im not talking about going around and trying to hurt or kill someone, but it would come in handy when i start getting into autoX racing as well. But hey im sure there isnt a guy in here who doesnt like to have alittle fun in there car!:)

I pretty much taught myself with techniques I read off the internet. I would print them out and to a big parking lot and practice it. Just go to a wide open uninhabited place at night (preferably after it has rained so cops don't here the tires squealing) and try it out. Shift in to 2nd and put in the clutch, rev to around 5000rpm. Cut the wheel hard and pop the clutch, your tires should start spinning, immediately countersteer and use the gas to control it. Try to do it without spinning out. This isn't the best tutorial but its the basics. There are alot of other ways to start a drift, just search on the net.

I can pretty much guarantee you that atttempting to drift in AutoX will actually make you SLOWER. I find that drifting is a byproduct of going fast. Learn to take your lines first, and when you start testing the limits of your traction on those lines, drifting will come naturally to you. :) good luck!

I agree fully, just find a nice corner (that you can see around) and take it a little faster each time you go around it, and eventually you will reach the point where the tires stop gripping, then you are "drifting"

then go to a parking lot and learn to controll extreme oversteer and you are all good:)

yes drifting in autoX is a sure fire way to lose time.

when in doubt..... the car that looked to be driving the slowest probly had the best time.... :)

well id like to learn drifting also because it would help me to know the limits of my car and incase in a autoX race something would go wrong id be able to handle a slide or something so i dont go crashing into cones and having everyone pissed at me:)

Thats is a good idea. Drifting is one of the best ways to get to know your car.
