Oxygen sensor working backwards... Of course.... Its my car.
I posted this in my other thread about my ECU check, but I wanted to see if anyone had any opinions about this....
My car runs rich- It gets horrible miliage and while I have a solid ignition system, I can smell raw fuel out of the exhaust at idle sometimes. Well, I check the 02 sensor voltage and at idle I got .2V. Kindof low, and if I rev it, I can only get it to change by about .05V either way. The best part is, if I drive it, and floor it, the voltage DROPS to about .07!!! Huh? Isn't that a little backwards? This sensor is only about 4 months old, replace by a shop that knows nothing about 7's. (Don't ask why it was there- please) I gues it could be fried, but it is sure acting wierd..... |
I have the same syptom of a bad smell of gas. I literally cough and hack when I go behind my car to get somethin or adjust my amp. I have never replaced my O2 sensor. Maybe that could be why my mileage went for shit the last while. Is it difficult to replace? Are there any special kinds?

Well, first thing would be to check the plugs- been a while since they've been replaced? What about the wires?
After that, ya the o2 sensor can definately contribute to rich running if it's not returning enough voltage. |
