Overheating...

I just recently got my 87 running with a new motor. However it still keeps overheating. I havent let it get to the "H" but even if it gets about 3/4 way up, the water/coolant is already boiling out of the resevior. And when I spin the fan, it makes a 3/4-1 whole turn before stopping.. Any ideas?

Flush your coolant system and while you are at it replace your thermostat. Also make sure your fan clutch is working properly.

How can you tell?

How can you tell if the fan clutch is working? And I also realized that the bottom skidplate is off..Does that make a big difference?

And I cranked the motor when the coolant was full (sort of) and nothing came shooting out. The funny thing was as I was adding coolant to the upper fill by the intake engine dead cold, it was pissing out of the overflow...WTF?!?!?!

Okay, I just read enough archives to get the picture. It needs the entire cooling system gone through....Boy I wanted to drive it this weekend...Oh well. One question. Why does water come out of the overflow when I am trying to fill it?

Hmmm...not a clue man...that doesn't make since to me at all. So when adding coolant/water to the radiator cap, water starts filling up in the overlow reservoir, and starts to overflow the overflow reservoir?

Yep, you can never get the water to spill out the upper neck, and stay there because it just fills up the overflow and leaks out...Its wierd.. And the damn fan clutch, after hand turning it for 10 turns, really starts feewheeling. About 3 turns or more per handturn.
