overheating

ok heres the deal, i have an 87 rx-7 nonturbo. and i have the double alternator pulley from rb. no air pump. hollowed out cats. just replaced the radiator cap and the thermostat. and still it overheats, it pisses me off. both the bottom and the top of the radiator are hot so its flowing. anyway have any clue what the hell is wrong with it. and how would i know if the mufflers were clogged.

Alright I just went through a deal with overheating on my 88 NA. Does it have any leaking at all? If you haven't sat there and looked do it. Turn the car on and see if it leaks even a little bit. Could be the water pump. Have you flushed the coolant? Also check that the fan clutch is working. Do you have the fan shrowd or any other pieces off. Answer these questions and we will go from there.

yup

i gotta all, new water pump, new clutch fan, and yes the shrouds. still overheats. fucking blows cause i cant go out

MazdaRx7Power 11-03-01 05:31 PM

oh

and all new water hoses

Have you tried to flush the coolant? Does it overheat or just run pretty hot? Any leaks at all? How long does it take to over heat? Any other problems at all?

MazdaRx7Power 11-03-01 06:23 PM

no leaks

no leaks what so ever. it overheats whenever if i go passed 4k rpm.

does ur overflow tank level increases??
maybe ur engine seal is broken. gas from combustion chamber pushing the coolant out..cazing the overheat..
do u smell fuel at the overflow coolant tank??

and of course, it could just be some small thing went wrong...
water pump, rad cap...etc etc
but seems like u replaced all of them already

Ryde _Or_Die 11-03-01 08:11 PM

Ok so you've checked while the car was running for leaks then? Alright, well have you flushed the coolant? Then refilled it with water/coolant mix? Is the overflow filling up? Also, you haven't said how hot it is getting? Like keeps going up till you have to turn it off or what? No other problems?

Are you sure that it's not just a bad temp gauge?

Other things to look for:
Do you have a Mazda brand thermostat?
Did you install the thermostat with the jiggle toward the alternator?
Are you sure that you didn't mix up the radiator cap and the filler cap?
Does the filler cap have the correct relief pressure written on it?

Can't your local grubby radiator shop check your radiator for a nominal fee? If it ends up that your radiator is bad, then I would recommend a nice all-aluminum upgrade, as the stock unit with resin tanks is a POS.
