Orange+Green

My just bought '86 fc was running low on antifreeze so I stopped off at 711 and picked up some green antifreeze. When I looked into the coolant tank I saw a tiny bit of cloudy orange antifreeze in there. Not knowing any better, I poured in the green antifreeze mixture in there to top it off.

When I got home I read about antifreeze types and now realize I am in trouble... what do I do!

hurleysurf24 09-30-07 03:41 PM

drain it ? idk

SpooledupRacing 09-30-07 03:42 PM

Your not in trouble. now a days coolant is orange or green for many reasons.. the difference is if u mixed DEX COOL with green... if not then you are fine.. alot of the "long life" anti freeze out on the store shelves now will be green, blue or red, orange.. it dont matter u are fine.. if u are worried. pull your lower radiator hose and flush the radiator out with a garden hose.. then pull of the water neck (remove the thermostat) and flush the engine out with the water hose.. then top it off with one color.. re install a NEW MAZDA t-sta and gasket and burb the system properly

Again you will be fine

Nah, just drink it.

No, but really. Give her a deusch.

DEX Cool can't mix with Eythl. Flush the cooling system. Use a water hose if you don't flush machine. By the way, it may not be DEX cool, it may be rush.

drain it, flush it, and top her off

Since you just purchased the car it is a good idea to go ahead and flush the system anyway. Who knows when the last time it was done. If you really want to be nice to your FC, use distilled water, prestone antifreeze, and add a bottle of Redline's water wetter.

^^ RO/DI FTW! I have a 6-stage reverse osmosis setup I got for my reef aquarium.. I plumbed it into the garage so I can fill up using RO/DI water... Super clean, no deposits, etc.

Aquarium... you're crazy
