OPM delete & ECM reprogramming possible ?
Its been a while since Ive been around.
93 R-1 has been sitting in a storage bag, in a storage room just waiting for me to finish her. My question is, on a 90 non turbo, if I delete the OMP, does someone offer a chip for the stock ECU to turn it off as well and stop the Fail safe from kicking in. This is the 3rd OMP to go bad, at least this time it did not take out the ECU. Do I have to go stand alone ? or is there a way out. ENJOY! Vince |

thanks a bunch.
Will check into this and let you know ! ENJOY! Vince |
is that it or is there another way....
|
Leave it plugged in, block it off.

the pocket logger is a $110 solution. i think half that of a used OMP.

Kinda dumb as a rock to block it off and hang the OMP on a harness.
|
Are you suggesting that its impossible to secure the OMP in some other fashion then hanging it on a harness?
I could see the wiring being so short that its hard to move it very far, but you could probably fab up something up to secure it more tightly then hanging it. |

And i AGREE. |
I have it bareblocked too...I want to install back on the block but cap the lines so it's moving but not doing anything. As retarded as that sounds, I wonder if it works.

yeah i had bought a car where the omp had failed and they had ziptied off a 2nd omp kind of over by the charcol canister just so it wouldnt go into limp mode,
which that one failed too eventually, so i zip tied a another used one over there LOL... i waas allways too lazy to install that damn omp... im sure i wasted more time/money adding 2 stroke to the gass then it woulda been to just unbolt the thing and swap it.... ahh well |

thank you....years ago i saw a similar thread and was not about to search for it...but that is what sold me seeing the tear down of a premix motor vs a non premixed motor.....

You're a good man clokker but I have a duty to answer the call
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=887275 There are thousands of stock, high mileage engines that have used the OMP system without seizing seals and grenading, mine included (192K). |
I don't think its an issue of blowing the engine really, just how much cleaner they were when pulled apart.
