Opinions !!! wich apex seals??
what u guys think about the apex seals that rx7world.com sells good ????????? can they be compared with atkins ??
|
I would use oem 2 piece mazda apex seals. I wouldnt take a chance with other company seals.
|
i believe those are rotary aviation seals with their price bumped up slightly.
just go directly to mazda, Atkins or RA for the seals... mazdatrix has a decent price on OEM seals and so do a few forum members here, you can get a 2mm 2piece OEM seal set for about $270 and since RA bumped up their price i would strongly suggest Atkins over RA since the price is nearly the same now. |
I have a set of 2mm 3 piece seals that I'll let go for $300. It also comes with some corners, and side seals. PM me for more info.

OEM 2mm

I don't use anything but Mazda OEM on anything for the street.
Almost everything else is crap, IMNSHO. -Ted |

Where is the best place to get a fair price for mazda oem seals then?
|
There is no reason to not EVER use OEM seals! It would be foolish to think some mom and pop shop could design a seal bettor then the only factory doing it for the past 60 years.
Unlimited budget race car use OEM certified Ianeti “forgot how to spell it” seals. I purchas my OEM seals from www.speedmachineperformance.com |
does anyone ever use carbon apex seals anymore? i think mazda still makes them, not sure. buti know there still availible

stock 2pc 2mm seals or ianetti ceramics if you can afford them
id only go w/ 3mm if i had apex seal groove damage in my rotor and didn't want to replace the rotor. a shit tune will blow any motor on a turbo rotary people have made over 650rwhp on stock seals and theyre good for RPMs just south of 10k rpm 2pc 2mms for me i would do ianettis but dont want to spend the $1k+ or so over price of stock seals, even though theyre lighter and don't wear the motor as fast partly because theyre lightweight I did just about every mod there is to my motor other than ceramic apex seals and the water jacket mod and stuck w/ 2pc 2mm OE mazda seals -Ben Martin |
i think theyre carbon filled aluminum to be specific. maybe i have that backwards lol
but anyways theyre supposedly only good for like 30k miles and i would rather spend the money on the ianettis if i had a motor that needed to rev past 10k like a nice pport or something |
In my 87' SE I used the Racing Beat carbon seals and they took what ever I threw at them (8K RPM, Alkie, 290F Intake temps, overheated three times.) I rebuilt the engine twice and every thing but the apex seals died. But I heard some where that they are brittle and can't stand predetonation... I personally have never ran into the problem but the again I've always had a fairly retarded ignition to prevent things of that nature,
