opinions on springs
this is for an '88 n/a with AAS. i'm looking at the RB springs with the 1" drop and the eibach pro-kit with the 0.8" drop and progressive rate technology. i read a post a while back that said the RB drop was excessive, anyone agree with this? i'm leaning toward the pro-kit b/c of popularity and reputation, but i know that RB only does mazda stuff so they may have something better to offer. anyone with either set of springs is welcome to offer their input. also, should i wait until i can afford shocks as well, or can the stock shocks handle the drop? would this screw up my AAS? sorry for all the questions, i'm still learning. and yes i searched.

youd have to take the AAS off, and i would save up to get new struts too (actually i did already).
edit: and i like the eibach springs i have |
I'm running the eibach pro kit springs and the tokicos out of an ann. edition in my 86na. Works great. I wouldn't want the car any lower. Don't know what the tokicos cost new though. Mine had 40k on them.

I got the B&G springs from fc3s.org (speed machine performance) for $200, they're progressive rate and lower the car 1.5". I haven't put 'em on yet, but I'll let you guys know how they are. They're kind of unknown.

^^ holy crap, a 1.5" drop... i read somewhere in the racing beat catalouge their springs are pretty much max on the drop for the suspension to work right, 1" all around i think.

Eibach's are good, like em alot.

ive seen plenty of rx7s with 3 inch drops.. 1.5 isnt that harsh.

What pissed me off was scraping everything. I had to take off my N1's more than once to weld them back together, seriously. Really sucked(s). Was the drop excessive? I believe the vote was like 1-27 in favor of it being excessive. I was the "1". But hey, it was my car. Looking back.... I think the vote is now 0-28. It is excessive for a daily driver. If it's not a daily driver..... I would do it again. My $.02 Steve |
check this thread out:
https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/progressive-vs-linear-rate-springs-280985/ also, you have to realize that if your stock springs are fairly worn you may not actually get as much of a drop as the stated amount. in fact, a lot of people do not notice any difference with a 0.8 inch drop... |
